  1. These Aren't Beach Books, but Managers Should Read Them Anyway - 15 Book recommendations from Sean Silverthorne on Harvard's Working Knowledge web site. Topics include digital strategy, talent & leadership, public trust, fintech, and innovation.

  2. Your Coffee-Buying Habit Could Hamper Your Retirement - The article describes how a millenial can harness the rules of 72, 64, and 20 to become a millionaire and improve their quality of life. If the stock market averages 11% APR, for a 20 year-old, the rules of 64 and 72 tell us that $3 per day invested instead of spent on coffee turns into $88,000 per year by age 60. Additionally, redeploying 20 minutes per day spent waiting in line for coffee into productive use of time could deliver competence in an endeavor such as martial arts.

  3. Amazon Alexa is illegally recording kids, lawsuits claim - A federal lawsuit that is seeking class action status alleges that up to 100 million Alexa devices are illegally recording children's voices in at least 8 states. States include: Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington, all of which require consent from all parties before recording. The suit also raises concerns that Amazon may be creating voice profiles that could enable tracking by the company and by governments.

  4. Millennials face $1 trillion of debt, and want money management tools to help them manage their way out of it. But mobile-banking apps are lagging. - Millenials are saddled under student loan debt, and the net worth of people younger than 35 has dropped by more than a third since 1996. Millennials are looking for apps to help with financial management, but many apps that are available are missing desired features such as the ability to view credit scores, understand money, view recurring charges, filter spending by date, cancel digital media subscriptions, or set spending limits.

  5. STEEM YouTube's Algorithm Caught Playing Favorites? - In an embedded youtube post, @davidpakman discusses the claims that youtube's algorithm plays favorites. Examples include Steven Crowder's channel which was demonitized and then remonetized and also Joe Rogan's channel, which dominated the recommended video list for one of @davidpakman's viewers (after a single video view). The video also points out that youtube keeps their recommendation algorithm secret and discusses strategies that youtubers use to dodge the censors, including avoiding "trigger words" and using careful selection of thumbnail photos.
