So, why don't we talk about politics online?

in #life5 years ago

Politics is the less discussed topic in our online life for a commoner like me!

Yeah, we get to see so many important international or local political news but we hardly talk about them on our social media feed or anywhere else online. I wouldn't say we are less concerned about politics but we somehow not likely feel comfortable or feel it okay to talk about politics. Maybe I'm not wrong on this as I'm also on this list.

Why I feel the urge?

Because it sometimes feels wired how normal we act in our social media or in Steem as nothing happened. It's not about interrupting other country's business. But we can talk in general. Like on Australia's Massive Bushfires or on Coronavirus, we kept silent. We at least can talk about international affairs. And it's also me who didn't feel like talking about the same topic. But it feels very wrong sometimes.

So, why not politics?

If you ask me, I would say, I don't talk about politics or religion on my social media. Because these two are too sensitive and it's very easy to get something wrong out of my words. And, if you have any idea about Bangladeshi politics, you may know that there are different restrictions on what we can talk or share. So, nobody wants to take the risk.

Yeah, it's an independent country with freedom of speech. But in pen and paper. So, this is actually the main reason I don't feel like to talk about our local politics.

But what about international politics though? I sometimes question myself why I don't talk about international politics in Steem platform?

In Steem, I think that it's not the hot tag, people have fewer interests in politics and, people don't want to see the same stuff on Steem too. That's why we don't feel the necessity to talk about it.

But...

Steem is a place where we can talk freely about politics. It's a place with freedom of speech. Maybe the influence level of Steem is not that high compared to other social media. But it can be a place where we can share our views freely. Especially when you are from a country where you can't talk freely about this, not even on your social media feed.

So, I'm planning to bring some political issues in Steem also.

What's your thought on this?
