Potted Sweet Potato | Producing Slips!
I've no practical experience in any kind of farming work. I'm so unfortunate that we raised in the city and there was no culture to involve in producing anything, not even in our backyard. Though we used to have a huge yard where my mom used to have a vegetable and fruit garden. But we never actively joined in the process. We were topical town girls, concerned about styling and all. But now I realize how essential this knowledge can be!
Praise to Google, so now I can do some experiments on my balcony garden. I'm sharing what I've done recently with you...
Well, I'm not sure if this gonna work but I learned this from Gardeningknowhow.com that we can plant sweet potatoes in container/pot in this way.
As you can see the sweet potatoes got slips on it. I bought these like 15 days before and because of the humidity it happened. So I thought to plant it. My son also joined the process. I'm not too hopeful on this. And as I also don't have much space in my balcony so I may not grow this in a huge area. But even looking at the green leaves would be my pleasure.
I'm out of ready-made fertilizer, maybe I will add some homemade fertilizer/soil nutrients later.
This is how I plant them to let the sprout come. Am I doing this right?
I know it's a very slow process. I have to wait weeks to see any result and many more days to get any harvest. As I was saying, I'm not that hopeful just doing experiments. Also, I really enjoyed learning and doing all this. And my son, no need to say how excited he was.
Let's see what happens and hope for the best!
