Legalism in the Churches
We, who have recognized Jesus as Savior and believe that he is the way to reach the father, are in charge of showing that Jesus to the world.
But many times it happens that we allow ourselves to be enveloped by the system that has also been developing in the churches, and we allow ourselves to be dragged along by religiosity, falling into legalism.
Legalism is a way of alienating people from God, because we begin to feel holier than everyone else and begin to judge their behavior without taking into account that tomorrow we may be in the other's place.
Jesus revolutionized the gospel, showed the true face of God, what he longs for us, what he planned for us to be saved, who are you and I to rob someone else of that possibility?
I once read a story somewhere, it's not mine, I don't know who wrote it, I don't know if it's real either, but it's a way for us to understand this:
“A man went to church and his cell phone rang, the pastor gave it away, the parishioners scolded him later, on the way home the wife added salt to the wound and the man never returned to church because he was full of shame.
But one night this man entered a bar and accidentally spilled a glass, the waiter cleaned him up, collected everything, the owner of the bar gave him a free drink, the people next to him told him not to worry that we all made mistakes, he man never stopped going to the bar again”
We need to reflect on our behavior, to analyze what we are doing to show others that God is real, are we ourselves to blame for people living a double life? We push them to be perfect in church and to behave like they really are on the street.
Let's stop creating the impression of perfection for others and start showing Jesus as he is, so that people can undergo a true transformation and love will never be the same again.
