Diwali- A festival of lights and Celebration

in #diwali5 years ago

Hello and Namaste friends

Happy Diwali to all of you and I wish on this festival of lights God fulfill all your dreams, give you prosperity and peace. Diwali is known to be a festival of light and it's one of the biggest festivals in north India.

Diwali is also known as Deepawali which means a row of lighting Diya. This festival is celebrated in the honor of Lord Rama and its believed that he came back to his home with his wife and brother after 14 years of exile period. Its victory of truth over evils. Its a kind of festival when people clean their houses, wear new clothes, do worship and believe that if they do it nicely then Goddess Laxmi will come at their home and their life will be full of prosperity and peace. This festival is all about meeting people, doing worship, having fruits and tasty sweets and firecrackers.

In my point of view, this festival is good because I get the chance to meet my friends and relatives. Nowadays our life is so busy and we don't get much time to meet people because of work hectic work schedules and fast-pace life. In the name of festivals at least we try to take out some time and meet people around us and even with friends and relatives. I like this festival a lot because of a few things that I do every year-

  • Shopping is something that I am always ready to and hope many girls out here would e agree with me. I get the chance to go to the market and do lots of shopping in the name of Diwali celebration shopping. I know that I spend lots of money on this but I also keep many things on hold for a few months so I can buy when the festival celebration starts in the market and even shop-keepers give a good discount.

  • In this festival I clean my house and get it painted nicely, however, this time it was not required as we recently shifted to a new house this year. I did buy some decorations stuff however I wanted to make by myself so have purchased some raw material which I will use later to make something nice.

This is the rangoli I made at the gate of my house and I am not pretty good at it but because its a tradition so I have tried making it for the first time.

Here is the place where I did the worship of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Laxmi. Here also I made a rangoli using color and have sweets, fruits, etc. Sweets are a must in the Diwali festival and without it, festival is not complete.

After the worship now was the time for some firecrackers so I went downstairs with my kid to have some fun with crackers. Kids like to burn bomb and many other crackers and my kid was so happy for it. There were already a few other kids playing there.

Here are some snapshots of fireworks. We all enjoyed a lot for more than an hour with other people in the open area of the apartment and kids had a great fun.

Festivals are meant to bring people together and thats how it should be celebrated. We forget everything and enjoy the time while celebrating together makes us happy

So this was all good about this wonderful festival but there is one thing that I would say is not good. Because of fireworks in the city for the Diwali festival, air quality gets worst in Delhi since yesterday it was normal but now its severe across the city.

I have just checked the current air quality index in the city and its 236 which is very unhealthy. The celebration comes at the cost of an unhealthy air quality index which not so good. Until yesterday it was all ok but now there is huge increase and advisable not to go outside. I feel that people should focus more on eco-friendly crackers so that we can contribute to a clean and healthy Diwali festival.
