Teepees Along the River
In my last road trip to mainland New Brunswick, I was intrigued to see these teepees along the shore of the Saint John River.
They are against a beautiful setting of fluffy clouds and rolling green hills in the background.
It’s not often you see a teepee, or two, set up. Perhaps a pow-wow or something else would be going on later that day.

The teepees could be seen from the service station where I had stopped for gas.

As the sign indicates, the gas station/store is called Maliseet Fuels. The Maliseet are the indigenous people of the scenic Saint John River and it’s tributaries.
There are tribal lands across from the service station where many Maliseet live.
They are an Algonquian speaking people-a language that is endangered.
Although I was in the area for a week, I never did find out anything more about why the teepees were set up.

It looks like they are about to have a time.
Yes, there must have been something going on , Rent, but I missed it.
