Happiness is not a simple emotion. For the vast majority of people's happiness is neither a state of being, nor a mental state. Happiness is a mental state. The meaning or definition of happiness changes greatly among different people.
Different things bring happiness to varying people. Some people find their happiness through abundance while others in their good health. Very few will say that attaining their desires is happiness for them; however, most would agree that positive thoughts and feelings are the key to happiness. Positive thoughts and feelings lead to happiness. When you are thinking positively, you are drawing yourself closer to your desires.
Many people are searching for the formula for happiness because so many people seem unhappy. One thing that seems constant among those on the search for happiness though is that they are searching in the wrong places. For many people, happiness is a state of mind, but there are other things around us that also contribute to happiness.
When we think of happiness, most people think of being happy. They think of being happy when surrounded by positive or friendly people around us. Positive thinking brings happiness to many people. When we think of negative emotions we also think of sadness and pain.
Happiness is not about being attached to someone else. Attachment breeds negativity. Think of all the friends you have lost over the years. Think of all the friends you have yet to lose over the years. Happiness is not finding someone to always be around, it is having enough good friends around us to make us smile. Positive thoughts create positive feelings and positive emotions.
The way that you dress can have an impact on your level of happiness. People who are dressed in clothes that make them feel uncomfortable find themselves unhappy. Happiness is not found in how you look, but in the feelings you get from dressing well. It does not matter if you are wearing jeans or a beautiful shirt, if you are wearing something that makes you feel uncomfortable you will be unhappy. Finding happiness in the clothes you wear is much easier than finding happiness in the thoughts that go with the clothes.
So many people search for happiness and they fail to find happiness because they are searching in the wrong places. To get happiness you need to reach deep inside and find the feeling of peace, security, and love. You can get happiness from reaching deep inside and finding these feelings. Happiness is a state of mind that is achieved by being happy, by learning to let go of negative emotions, by getting in touch with your inner peace, by eliminating fear, and by loving yourself and others. By developing these aspects of your personality happiness will become a reality. The trick is to stay in touch with your inner peace, to eliminate negative emotions such as anxiety, anger, guilt, and shame, and to get in touch with your inner knowingness. Once you have done this you will realize that happiness does indeed exist deep inside you.
When we choose to let go of our negative emotions and choose happiness we become happy. We also become healthy and strong, and our physical bodies show this. Our skin and hair look better, we smell better, we become more alert. We sleep better, and we can enjoy more time with our families. These are the reasons that happiness truly does exist.
