Spring Gardening In Oklahoma

in #gardening9 years ago (edited)

It's April!

All my little seedlings look so small, I get anxious every spring! I'll be covering the seedlings with rowcovers to protect them from beetles and caterpillars. I had bug problems in Oregon, but Oklahoma is awful! I always over plant and my garden ends up looking like a plant bomb went off. Every year I promise I will allow each plant their prescribed amount of space. Maybe this year I'll achieve perfectly groomed rows!

I'm planting my lettuce, collards, spinach, chard, kale, broccoli, cabbage, Brussel sprouts. My sweet peas and onions are sprouting.

The chickens cleaned all the weeds and bugs out of my garden. I've never had bare dirt look so clean!

The Rockwool experment turned out okay. My seedlings sprouted very well the second time around. I had troubles with my first Rockwool Seed starter , not because I over watered! My problem was the plants were near my wifi amplifier. I moved my second Rockwool seed starter mat away from low frequency energy and I had no problems with bent stem or fungus!

Starting a batch of pickles from last years harvest of cucumbers.

2014 tomato harvest, I grew so many I had to give them to our community center.

My first attempt and all the seedlings died.
