Something To Lighten The Mood

My daughter says she looks like Ronald McDonald. I like to do outlines and flesh out the figure with color. Doris won't look like a clown for long!

Doris Day's Biography

"Doris Day was born on April 3, 1922, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She sang with several big bands before going solo in 1947. In the 1950s, she made a series of popular film musicals, including Calamity Jane (1953) and The Pajama Game (1957). Day is an advocate for animal welfare and founded several organizations devoted to the cause."

Doris Day represented the wholesome actress. Blond, blue eyed, honest and kind. She was sexy but in a way that didn't represent lust and unending greed. So she was never as famous as Marlyn Monroe, lust sells. However Doris's acting and singing career lasted a lot longer than Marlyn Monroes career. It seems many women get lost and die early under the pressure of fame and fortune. Doris was able to walk that dangerous path of stardom but never found peace in her personal life.

She started out dancing in her teens, won some contest and sadly injured her leg in a car accident. During her recovery time her mom a music teacher gave her voice lesson. Doris had a good voice and started off her career as a singer in big bands, found enough fame to land some small parts in movies, which led to bigger parts. Doris was a advocate for animals after her sweet wholesome personality didn't translate very well through the hippie dippy sixties and she retired.

Beautiful story dear friend @reddust, great work, thank you very much for sharing

Poor girl! I'm sure she's as beautiful as her mother! I love coming to your posts to seeing you holding that pepper! I need to post that art poster sometime too as I just love it :)

Amazing that is a 'quick line drawing'. So very talented. And a nice tribute to a great star, always liked Doris. I used to work with a German forester, who was always singing "What Will Be Will Be (Que Serah Serah)" in the woods in broken English . Always started it with "when I was a little boy..., my mother would always say this to me..." in same English. Cracked me up every time. Really brought me back there when I read this. Thanks for sharing.
