Are You An Early Adopter And A Motivated Developer? If So, You May Just Be What The EOS Team is Looking For.

in #eos8 years ago (edited)

As I have mentioned, I'm not a savvy Applications Developer or a person who even likes the thought of writing code.

Insert lighting bolt to strike me down right here, if that opening statement makes you want to roll your eyes at the likes of me and yell next blog post please! "I can't tolerate the ignorance of this woman, who won't communicate in the language of code".

(I used this marked for re-use photo from the internet. It can be found here: https://www.google.ca/search?q=lightning+bolt&tbm=isch&source=lnt&tbs=sur:fc&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjLz-r5vazVAhVE7IMKHb-RAaUQpwUIHw&biw=1366&bih=629&dpr=1#imgrc=5XWo8xZxQFEapM:)

Zeros and Ones, They Haunt Me

For me, being able to write code is not something that ever interested me. I know that this dis-interest is due to an old trauma, left over from the early 80's, when I spent 3 full days entering binary code into my first TRS-80 computer. After sifting through line upon line of code to catch my keying errors involving thousands of  zer0s and ones, I was finally able to bring a heavily pixelated cartoon rabbit into action (which would be known as a very primitive "animated gif" today). This large, block-looking rabbit, could wave its arm for 2 seconds and a banner would flash across the screen that said: "Happy Easter". Although, very cool for its time, and my parents were proud and probably relieved that I had somehow figured out how to use (our new, and very expensive at the time, family computer to do something) the whole experience left me "under-served" emotionally and "coding scarred".  I never wrote any code, copied any code or did anything that remotely involved code again. (I know I need help. LOL!)

My Aversion To Learn How To Code, Doesn't Mean I'm Not Paying Attention

In fact, I am paying a lot of attention because I absolutely love the new blockchain that Dan Larimer is building with a team of talented folks, called EOS. I have written about why I love EOS, complete with its own token. (If you didn't catch that post, you can read it here: https://steemit.com/eos/@rebeccaryan/i-am-long-on-eos-and-am-prepared-to-hold )

90% of the code that Dan has written for EOS is brand new and he's doing something a little bit different with the roll-out and release of this new interface that he is engineering along with the EOS team. Their ultimate goal, (as far as I can tell) is to work as many bugs or glitches out of it as they can, in advance of taking it to mass market.

Dan has learned from his previous blockchain building experience. First with Bitshares, then with Steemit and he's now making every effort to use that experience to make EOS super efficient and a pleasure for its intended "end-users" to use. Dan used the analogy in an interview that he did with @jeffberwick on July 11, 2017, that he learned (from his Bitshares' experience) which was that it is much easier to work on, fix and fine tune the engine of a car, before it's speeding down the road. I think this strategy of not caving to the pressure of all the requests he is fielding to demonstrate a working model before its actually ready to, will serve EOS exceptionally well in the future. Hopefully, this decision is a prudent one (I think it is) and will lead to the need for less hardforks, in EOS's operating future.

I Think This IS Why He Is Putting Out A Call For Early Adopters To Ultimately Test EOS.

Please read Dan Larimer's latest blog post on the subject, which can be accessed here: https://steemit.com/eosdev/@dan/eos-development-sneak-peek-for-very-early-developers

If you are a developer and are itching to try your hand at taking EOS for a test drive, please take Dan up on his offer to let you give this new platform a whirl. It's another golden opportunity, that he has created and giving to people for free. Please show him your stuff and in the process your contribution will allow testing and improvement of the system to occur. Be part of EOS's history because who knows where that experience might take you in the future.

If you are a new developer, I see this as an opportunity for you to write your own ticket in life.

I think that the opportunity is so monumentally, I've put everything else on hold to blog about this topic. I admit that I am not well verse in it and basically feel like I am putting my own reputation on the line because I want you to have every opportunity in your life. I think this starts with knowing that an opportunity even exists and then attempting to understand the significance of what it will mean for you in the future.

Maybe, You're Like Me And You Aren't A Developer or Coder

If you are a person who isn't a developer but know someone who is, please think of them and share the information from Dan Larimer's post with them.

I do see it as a "life changing" opportunity and anyone who is into coding and designing applications will know what they need they need to do, to participate in the testing of EOS, once they read Dan's post. Do your utmost to get the info, in front of their eyes, as soon as possible. We all know that the crypto-world doesn't sleep and the timing on this is critical. It's not going to wait, for any person.

If you are interested in buying some EOS tokens (to add to your crypto-coin portfolio) it's currently available on 6 exchanges right now. You can find it trading on the following: Bitfinex, Biter, Kraken, Liqui, Tidex and HitBTC. It appears like the later two exchanges (Tidex and HitBTC) have just been added.

I welcome your comments and I invite you to follow me on my journey.

(Even if that means that I have to check myself into "coding" therapy. LOL)

@rebeccaryan
I know you are passionate about this venture. As you likely should be.
It is hard for some of us to wrap our heads around the usability and the viability of EOS.
How it serves the end user and who the end user is makes a big difference.
If millions or billions of people will be using and happy about EOS, then the sky is the limit.
In my small little world, can I be helped with EOS? I am very sure I and others can. Because I know you. You won't make this a major project if it wasn't.
I will be watching and reading closely as you develop this story into an eye opener for us.
Thank you for your diligence. I want to anticipate great things for EOS and the end users.

Francis

Hi Francis!
I very much feel like I am in the exact same boat...waiting to see what applications EOS is going to make it easier for developers to design. This is in the "heads" of many people, I am sure.
Dan Larimer is a visionary. I think that alone will attract others with the skills and strength to use the EOS platform as a jumping off point to create new things that use technology to positively enhance how life works for all of us on this planet, going forward. There is no limit in my eyes, only opportunity, which starts with the awareness that an opportunity even exists. People need to know about it and my skill is in bringing the information down to a level that is easy to understand from the perspective of a person who really doesn't know that much about how blockchains are engineered and how smart contract applications are designed. I will be watching closely and trying to make heads or tails out of what I am reading and learning on the subject. :)

As you may certainly know, I'm just a novice on this subject! Wish they were looking for a food developer too!!! Hahaha!Lol!
Cheers
@progressivechef

I feel the same way @progessivechef!!! I wish I had something to contribute. Right now, it's just my mind and fingers typing to bring awareness to the opportunity. It feels very small.
However, if you needed me to medicate a food or strip a muscle of its trigger points, I'm your girl. LOL!

Don't they print out food with 3D printers now???! Get on it, @progressivechef, you'll be selling blockchain burritos!

Hahahah! Best comment ever @anarchrysalis! Very soon chefs will no longer be needed! That why I've changed career and joined Steemit!Lol!
Blockchain burritos!!!
Cheers
@progressivechef

omg thankyou so much for this information i'll surely join this channgel... loved your post

Great @akareem!
I am hoping that someone I know will really take this opportunity and run with it.
I have followed you...best of luck with developing something on EOS, if you decide to try your hand at it. :)

followed u and appriciate u rebecca for ur ejoying journey

Thanks @robrowe!
I appreciate your support. Welcome to Steemit.
I have followed you. :)

i am really bad at learning codes and all that stuff they just haunt me day and night

@rebeccaryan,
I am not a developer but I brought EOS tokens ;) Now awaiting to see miracles :D
Great article with a lot of information!

Cheers~

Well, @theguruasia it is my opinion that this will be a good decision. I do think it will take a few months. Once people start to see what apps are being developed on it.

Yeah this could be a really good experience for coders to try something new. Wish I was good at this...

Me too, @trendo! The least I could do was share the opportunity and make the point that the info is worth sharing if you know anyone who is a great coder and loves to be a developer. I so hope that someone I know sees this and just runs with it. :)

Being a developer it's a challenging job for me and i'm loving it, Part of creating some huge applications makes me happy and responsible.

Hi @stefen!
Great! please read Dan's blog post. In it, he gives all "the getting started info" you will need. He also shared that a new developer channel on Telegram has been created:
( tg://join?invite=EaEnSUPktgfoI-XPfMYtcQ )
You can join this channel to get any help that you may need and this channel is regularly being monitored so that assistance is being given in a timely manner.
I do hope that someone I know bites into this and latches on to the opportunity. It's a game changer.

Hello rebecca. Thanks for the invitation i will join this channel for sure.

Very good @stefen! I wish you all the best as you give this test a try. Please let everyone know how you are doing if you decide to try it out, by writing a blog post about it. I'd be really interested to know about your experience using the EOS platform if you develop something or give it a try. :)

I'm not good at it either but everyday we learn and advance , that's the best part about it @rebeccaryan

I agree @journeyoflife! I will never say never to learning to code but it will take some serious work and likely therapy. LOL! I still re-live the experience every single time I think about that damn rabbit. LOL!

Haha !! Memories are good (;

I'm definitely no developer. I can't code to save my life.
My limits go as far as a kid printing 'hello world' on the screen haha
I saw Dan's post today regarding his early developer release and I hope some people can give him some great feedback or even help him progress his EOS journey.
EOS will be huge one day in the world of smart contract and if you can code you may as well help its way to the top.

Exactly @arckrai! If a person can help as a coder/developer why wouldn't they? It's a great opportunity to go to the top, along with EOS.
