I AM TOO BUSY...I AM IN A HURRY
I AM TOO BUSY... I AM IN A HURRY
Do you ever feel like God is trying to get your attention about certain burdens all in one day. That was my yesterday but oh what a great day. I am not writing this so that you can pat me on the back...I am speaking to myself and maybe you about having an ear to hear the heart of the Lord in the midst of "BUSINESS". So please indulge me a moment.
Yesterday I had to run an errand to the bank in the downtown area. God gave me a parking spot right in front of the bank, just across the street. I had hopes to get an open parking spot right in front of the bank on the same side of the street (parking is real hard in the historic district) because I had to get to work pretty quickly. That spot suddenly got taken as I approached by a young man who was taking his bike out of someones car and who decided to lean his bike against the curb right as I was about to pull in. I went around the block and the one opened directly across from that spot in front of the bank. This story has oh so many parts. (Remember I am in a hurry to get to work).
I get out of my car and there are 5 or 6 homeless people just feet from my car. I hurriedly move across the street because "I was in a hurry". The Lord was pulling on my heart strings as I passed them (I have done homeless ministry so many times and I do see them as important) but I just did not know what God wanted from me at that moment for them and remember, I am in a hurry. I run into the bank and as I use the ATM the Lord told me "I have a Word for that young man with the bike.". Immediately God gave me that Word. I was to tell him, "God says, look for him along the way". The young man had all the right equipment. Backpack, helmet, water, etc. Handsome young man who wore a huge smile. Not sure what his journey is. Homeless? Going across the country on a bike. Who knows. I did not ask. I gave him the Word. He asked me to repeat it and he responded with a big smile, "I will do that"..."I am doing that".
I walked to my car and the Lord speaks to me. You have a large homeless emergency kit in the car. This is its home." So I unlock my trunk and take out the bag and give it to the one homeless lady and told her to share it as they all had need. She smiled and said thank you. I proceeded to get in my car because I had one more stop to make.
I headed to the Dollar store to get some baby hangers for Life Services Baby boutique for moms in need. As I walk in I immediately see some bright waterproof bags with a shoulder strap that would be great for the homeless. Then I see water bottles and towels. I added it all to my cart. I finally make it to the hangers and make a beeline for the checkout line. I have a lot to do at the office before I get on the mobile truck where we do free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds. The lady behind me in line talks to me a moment. She tells me she is a professor at a college in NY but she road down with a guy and he ditched her. She had her little fur baby but that guy left him in his car the day before in the heat and he died. She was buying a frame to put a pic of him in and a few items she needed. SHE WAS NOW HOMELESS. Point made Father. The Lord told me to buy her stuff for her. She began to cry (she had some money but that was not the important thing.) God told me to tell her she was valuable. She wept. I held her although you could tell she was afraid I might not want to touch her. To be honest (don't praise me), I was not sure I wanted to...it was not a pretty sight. BUT SHE IS VALUABLE. As valuable as me to the Heavenly Father.
Point made Father. We are all valuable. She probably was a professor. Life hit her hard. Are we too busy? I am so glad that although I was too busy, I listened to the Father and slowed down. I don't know if I made a difference in their lives, but it sure made one in mine.
Love the experience and story. We need to have ears to hear what the Father is saying and His assignments. There is need all around us and God desires to make us ambassadors of His hope. Welcome to Steemit.
Amen to what Acts said.. Welcome to steemit Be blessed.
