Just snapped a picture of this big female Snapping Turtle this morning. She just laid her eggs and was headed back to the pond. The Chelydra serpentina or common Snapping Turtle is native to much of North America. They have a pronounced prehistoric look and tend to be combative when out of water. This particular turtle was relatively subdued and seemed exhausted from the reproductive process. Please Upvote and Follow, so I can create more content like this.

#FunFact Snapping Turtles are believed to live in excess of 100 years.
