I found this beauty growing in the high alpine wilderness in Glacier National Park. Wild chives are a bulb-forming herbaceous perennial plant, growing to 30–50 cm (12–20 in) tall. This purple specimen is well known for producing copious amounts of nectar. The green stalks know as scapes can be diced and used as an ingredient for omelets, fish, potatoes, soups, salads, and many other dishes.

#FunFact The Romans believed chives were a treatment for the pain from sunburn, or to soothe a sore throat.
