Venom 2 is Officially Happening
Not that anyone had any doubts about it, but the official confirmation did take longer than expected. It should have come out a week or two after the movie's release. Obviously, Tom Hardy will reprise the role as Venom. There are rumors going around that he signed a three movies deal. His fans definitely showed up to support him as the abysmal rotten tomatoes score of 28% didn't stop the movies from making $855,669,053.
One of the three original writers, Kelly Marcel, has already been working on the script for a while now. Probably since Venom's first weekend at the box office.
It is still unclear if the cast of the original movie will return. I don't want to spoiler anything, but if you saw the post credit scene in Venom, you already have a pretty clear idea about the villain of the next movie. Sony better not back down from the idea or fans will be furious.
As Sony's spider-verse continues to be so successful I wouldn't rule out a Spider-Man cameo just yet. The rumors also whisper that the movie might come out on October 2020, which seems like a reasonable time distance.
