My perfect morning.

I wake up at 8 a.m just before my alarm rings. I lay a few minutes in bed waiting for it to ring and when it does I turn it off and get out.
I wash my teeth, I refresh and I go to the kitchen to start my coffee.
Just before, I will open the heat in my office so it's the perfect temperature when I go back to start working.
While the coffee brews, I will do a short warming up - squatting, moving my arms and legs, getting limber - then I'll take my favorite cup and wait for the moka-pot to finish.
I pour the coffee, add milk and go to the living room. I take a sip and start a short yoga session to get the juices flowing. It takes a maximum of 10 minutes and stop often to sip the coffee.
When I'm done, I will meditate for 10 minutes on the mat. I will express gratitude for another great day, for the coffee, for the life I am lucky to have right now and make a plan for the rest of the day.
I take my coffee to the office - which is now warm and cozy - and open the laptop at around 9 a.m to start the actual work.
I feel great :).


How did you like my morning ritual? Am I an evolved, disciplined, balance individual, setting his life on a path to success or WHAT??
If by now you feel a little jealousy and maybe envy on me, then: goal achieved!!
Now let me just say: HAHAHAHHAHA. No WAY that is how my day looks.

I forgot to mention this is how I imagine my day will go when I go to sleep at night. I lay in bed at 12 am and think that I will sleep for 8 hours and do all of the above. #blessed.
Unfortunately, I find myself browing the interwebz or reading until 4 a.m.
Here's how my REAL day looks like:

My REAL morning

The alarm is buzzing in my ears. If it got to me, it must have been blaring for minutes as I do not sleep with my hearing aid and the sounds take a while to reach my brain. I peer at the clock: 8:17. Yeap, 5 minutes of battery drain and sound polution. SNOOZE.
I finally manage to get out. It's damn cold and I hate it. I wash my teeth and my face but I'm kind of late so no time to moisturize so my skin is a bit itchy. I'll do it late. Maybe.
I feel too sleepy, I need coffee. The mocha pot is in the sink - forgotten from yesterday - so I need to clean it first. I'm already annoyed. I put it on fire and I start reading my mail as it's already 9: 02 and I need to already working.
SHSUSHSS!!! I start out of my e-mail binge by the sound of coffee spilling over the oven. Damn coffee, why does this happen so often?!
I pour the salvaged coffee in the cup, add milk, throw the pot into the sink - I'll wash it later - and run to the office.
It's COLD as BALLS! I can't find the heater remote and I need to get into a meeting soon.
I shiver as I take care of stuff, my coffee is getting cold and my back hurts.
For fucks' sake, I really need to wake up earlier and if I would, my day would be like.....(scroll upward!).

thats exactly what I thought. What a perfect morning, thats what I always fantasize about but I never achieve.. and then I was like ah, exactly... thats reality. I don't feel so bad now..

So, what are you doing (changing) in order to make progress toward your perfect morning? One observation is that you seemed more (better) diciplined in your perfect morning.

very good question. I think you are right, discipline is the most important thing. getting into the habit and really pushing past the morning sleepiness is the key..maybe sleeping early too?
What do you suggest?

Well, aside from being tired and yawning, there's clearing your mind and slowing/calming breathing. I know this sounds simple and may seem to you as near impossible. But, hear me out, I learned this the hard way.

I have Parkinsons and not so long ago complained of trouble getting to sleep. While I still sleep in short stretches, I don't have as much trouble falling asleep. If you are the type with your mind always working, try the following. Make up a fictional story in your mind (non sexual, you're trying for calmness not excitement) and use a favorite setting such as western, SciFi etc. While you are thinking about the story, slow your breathing. The next night you can repeat the story fragment from the day before or build around the edges.

Using a theme or setting you like makes this a pleasant exercise that you won't mind repeating each day. This method might not work the first or second night, but, keep at it. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Thank God every morning when you get up that you have something to do that day,
which must be done, whether you like it or not. :)

Haha. What a sincere man. At the begining i tough i actually do this every morning :)). then i understand.. you are just like me. Every morning i say that i will sleep more and i wake up normally..but..the internet and steem won-t let me sleep enough :(

I mean that's the GOAL but damn the intercryptoetc.

LOL @razvanelulmarin We pretty have the same " fake morning " :) I hope it could be true... But my real one look like your real one :D In fact, since I got sick I don't really wake up in the morning ! :D Now I just wake up when I am awake.... But this is not good neither. Would be better to have a routine (do you know the Miracle Morning Routine? I love it.... but I can't do it !)

sorry to hear you were/are sick!! I hate being sick - the only advantage seems to be that we appreciate more being healthy!. I read about countless morning routines but no way no how can I implement them myself.
Waking up "naturally" doesn't sound bad either..if you are not rushed, you can do whatever morning routine you feel like after, right?
