A thing about travelling again

in #travel8 years ago

I felt high and dizzy and the streets were unfamiliar, the people talked a strange language and it was night. My phone was out of battery and I had a vague idea of where I was going.
It was fucking amazing!

It was my last night in W. when I noticed that I felt great despite everything that should have made me feel anxious and scared. I had a good day of exploring and eating and shopping and talking to random people a few even, I felt pretty good and ready for anything. There was this tingly feeling in the air where I felt that anything was possible to happen and that it would be fun if it did.

I was aware that this is actually an imbalance, as my "high" was an opposite of the "lows" when I travel going from homsickness and depression to "never leaving this place"!! but I have this new theory that my adaptability take a lot more time than most people to get me into a normal space. I need a day or two to sniff the air and move around and be back to my usual self in a new environment. It's like running...

I hate running. I am bad at running. If I run 1km I might die. If I run 2km I'll hate everyone and I might kill you. But after the 4th km I start to like it. Dunno exactly why but that's how it goes. I rarely mange to get to the 4km of bliss but when I do, I usually am happy I did...even knowing this though is difficult to get over the initial hurdles.
Same with travelling.

As always, my conclusion is that persistence is key and wanting is as important as doing.
Where to next?
Where have you been and loved it lately?

If you died in 1km i guess there will be no 2 3 and the blissful 4. (smile)...... Lovely writeup friend. It is not conventional which makes it great.

You kind of get what I'm saying though, right? :)
Thank you!

Its make me smile what prinsj said.i was thinking same😀

:)) you guys are taking it waaay to literal hahahaha

Glad to hear you're enjoying your traveling again. I totally resonate with going from low to high, from "Why am I doing this?" to "This is awesome!"...I feel a bit bipolar at times :)))
Where have you been traveling lately?
Me and @dragosroua have been in Valencia, Spain for the last 10 days, I totally recommend it if you haven't been here already.
Keep running & traveling & enjoying life :)

haha. 10 days?!?! That's soo long! I never went, thinking Madrid could be good but the freedom to go somewhere for 10 days is something else. I usually do weekend trips - Milan for example waas last.

yeah, we planned this for a while, we took a vacation after a loooong time of no holidays. You should plan more days for Valencia if you ever visit, it has way to many awesome restaurants to try and places to see ;)

I did a bike trip recently and loved the scenery while hating the damn cold. Post coming soon :P

lookin forward to it!

You get a taste for it, I guess, huh?

Go anywhere. I think it depends far more on your state of mind and how comfortable you are in your own head (which you seem to be) than the actual place you're in. That's how it is for me...I love every place I've traveled. Everyone in Italy is amazing. Well, almost everywhere...
Have fun, wherever you go :)

yeah Italy was great anyway. I guess when you can't hear things look a bit different.
thank you!

I have a trip coming up, I hate it, I prefer to stay home but then when I actually get there I have a great time, and then I have to sleep in a bed that is inferior to mine and use a shower that is inferior to mine and I can't wait to get home.

Why not choose a sunny place compared to our so cold weather?:) I would choose Rio or Thailands in your place or Tenerife if you want something near and sunny and beautiful. Traveling is nice..i've visited too 5 or 6 countrys..each time it felt strange arriving in new country but thanks to my socializing skills it wasn't hard to fit in and make friends which i'm sure you do it too. After a few days you start missing your place and when you come back you miss the country you just visited..such a strange contrast:)). Travel safe:)

About the running...i can totally understand bcs i'm in same situation:))..but if you start walking daily and for longer distances each time, your feet and body will get used and after you'll be able to run..you can't run 1 km from first:)

You bad at running but if you will try and keep running then you will see the change soon.

You have a very beautiful writing skills. Lovely one.
