Kids Are Awesome
My youngest child, not so young anymore, has always been different then all the other kids. Not a bad different, just different.
As most of you know, no two kids are the same. This couldn't be more correct then with my youngest.
He has always been intrested in things that other people are not. Basically he is not a follower at all.
Well yesterday started a new chapter in his life, with his next big want to do. This want to do was a little harder then all the other activites he has done in the past.
BOXING
This was a tuff one for me. We live in a small town that is about 10 mins away from a city that is a little bigger.
So finding someone that teached boxing was difficult. Sure we had a handful of people who taught MMA but he wanted boxing.
Jack pot, the only one in town.
Now this place is old school boxing, nothing new and nothing fancy. Located above a church, I just new this was going to be a place for troubled teens, being located in the not so desireable side of town, but either way my son wanted to go. He said "dad as long as everyone there is there for boxing, whats the big deal?"
So we went in and checked it out, (sorry for not having any picture of the actuall equipment, we go back on thursday, I will take some then)
Mr. T.C.
Mr. T.C., he was very old school as well, but after watching for a few mins , I new he had control and new what he was doing. He had been boxing for 50 years.
This is just the start of his new journey. A journey that he will do his best at, cause thats the kind of youngman he is. No one else in our town is taking boxing yet, I am sure that he will get some to follow.
Lucky for him, and your other children, their Dad knows how to prepare for their future!
Stack On!
Thanks buddy.
your right to feel proud Ray for helping your son to pursue his goals and the fact he is not a follower is fantastic also, too many people these days both young and old have the herd mentality well done both of you \o/
Thanks my friend.
Man, this is so cool and I enjoyed your post! When I was younger, I began taking martial arts and it had several positive impacts on my life! I love any type of hand to hand combat like boxing, kick boxing and MMA. It's great that you found an instructor for him, I'm sure he will do great!
I hope he does, did you ever do boxing? thanks for the visit and comment.
No, but I wanted to! I studied contemporary Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which I really loved. I reached the level of brown belt and had to quit because I started my law enforcement career. There was no way that I could do both. I was working a full time 3rd shift job while going to rookie school at the same time. And then of course in rookie school we had SCAT (Subject Control Arrest Technique)training and tactical exercises and stuff which was fun also. There isnt really a boxing training facility in my area but I would have loved to have done it!
Good for him, thank you for sharing this. Wish him all the best!
Weird. I thought all kids only played video game boxing.
Hmm, maybe theres hope out there still! Keep up the good dading.
Thanks @edthecanadian , he does play video games.
Some gaming time is ok. My 6 year old loves mariokart racing.
Agree they need a little gaming time, but some kids, thats all they do. Thanks for the visit.
Awesome post, I am 16 years old and I also box. It's a really fun sport and a great workout. I just posted a blog about how to make money as a teen, maybe your son would find it useful?
