Well 365 days ago is when it all started. I was watching a you tube video of @marketreport, yep Greg is the reason I came to Steemit. At that point I had no idea what steemit was about. It took me a good 2 weeks just to pick up the basics. By the way check out the price of litecoin a year ago.

Of course 12 months ago I didn't know the first thing about cryptos or blockchains. Its truly amazing what you can learn in a years time. Oh my, look at bitcoin a year ago.

Now I meet a member by the name @hgmsilvergold, this was about the 1st of June maybe even closer to the middle of June. We talked and he had the idea about creating a tag/group, now he was much smarter than I was, cause I had know idea how to make this happen. It took about 10 days to get the tag, which was the birth of #steemsilvergold.

That was our original logo designed by @pawos, who was also one of the original members. He handled the weekly group reports and played a vital part in setting some rules amd guidelines.

Remember when No one accepted steem.

So as the group and myself grew and became familiar with steemit, more and more people started showing up. About 10 months ago I stumbled upon a guy by the name of @goldenarms, (you tube sensation) I didn't really watch to much You Tube but come to find out we where starting to attract some silver and gold stackers from the Tube, Couple of weeks later I noticed a Pirate ship parked right be side the #steemsilvergold group. This is when I meet @thedamus. No you gotta keep in mind 10 months ago we where throwing around some heavy votes, I mean hitting a post with a 3 cent up vote was a big deal. But we supported the shit out of each other.

So things where going good and we were getting rich. The group was growing and it felt like home. I did finally complete my 500 hour blogging course, so I was beginning to feel like a professional blogger (not really but hell it sounds good). So move ahead about 2 weeks and I meet a guy that would change the #steemsilvergold tag forever. @sevinwilson had made a few comments on some of my silver post. We started visiting each others post and communicating regularly on steemit chat.

Probably wondering where this is going well the next picture pay attention to the date, for it is very important part of history.

There you have it the birth of the steem silver round or atleast the concept. It took several months to bring the coin to life.

That was a major point in my steemit life, for the birth of the coin made me realize that we where not going anywhere, and we where gaining some serious strength.

The birth of the community bot

What an awesome idea we had, we decided as a group to create our own community bot that would vote on all members post. This was a turning point for the #steemsilvergold group. Staxx grew up fast, maybe a little too fast. Now as a group we where so excited about staxx that we didnt really give it much thought, as far as for ownership and what to do with the funds that were generated off of curations. So of course like all things that you rush into, problems evolve over time.

The fall of the once loved staxx

About 8 weeks ago a devastating blow happened to #steemsilvergold that could have ended a lot worse then it did. Yes staxx was a private owned bot and was not a community bot anymore. This called for some quick and immediate action. @buggedout who has been a member for a long time came out of the shadows and into the light. We put together a panel of very like minded members that truly care about the group more than themselves. @buggedout, @thedamus, @sikverstackeruk, @welshstacker and myself @raybrockman. We moved quick, @buggedout did an awesome job keeping us all focused, the rules were written up, the account was created and we where ready to move forward. @ssg-community was the new community bot. Boy did the group respond well to the new bot, within the 1st month we manged to secure over 104,000 delegated steem power. The endless chat and work paid off and the group had another future. Now I feel very close to the other 4 that helped in this project, but if I didn't give an extra shout out to @buggedout then it wouldn't be right. This gentleman stepped up amd pulled #steemsilvergold back together again, now of course it took everyone to do this, but @buggedout is the mastermind and operator behind it.

So here I sit 365 days after my first post. I think to myself what an amazing group of stackers we have surrounded ourselves with, a group that cares, a group that supports, a true steemit family. So I will leave you with this.

Thank you to everyone I have been blessed more than I deserve. We are not the normal steemit group, which is pretty awesome. So stay focused and stay strong, this is just the beginning.

With much love for the SSG,, @raybrockman

I seriously cannot believe how fast this last year has flown by! I still remember to this day that first conversation ever had about the Steem Silver Round! It feels like just yesterday! Thank you for the encouragement and all you have done for #SteemSilverGold!

All i have to say is

#RayBrockmanForPresident

Hell yea man! It has been nice to see the story unfold. It's been an honor and a pleasure brother. ☠️😎

🎂🎶happy anniversary, happy anniversary, happy anniversary 🎶 you the man Ray! The big visionary that started the show.
We are all greatful for the early adopters, I for one was wallowing around steemit, thinking it was a huge stupid waste of time till someone... Feked if I can remember who... Probably Sevin... Or maybe GA, Pointed me to #steemsilvergold. Changed my whole stacking life! I was so tired of YouTube, and kitcomm and this was a super positive place where people just showed silver and gold and everyone was supportive!

I tell ya what Ray, I sure was getting disappointed with stackers until I found you lot, it really is the best place for a goldbug to be!

Cheers brother🥂

Fuck yeah!!!

Y’Arrr Matey! This voyage has just begun!!!

That's a really cool glimpse into the Steem life of the man, the myth, the legend. I was wondering how long some of your had been hanging together. It's neat to see a better picture of how SSG came into being. Without SSG, I wouldn't be stacking silver today. So thanks for creating a space that encourages it!

That's an awesome story. I'm coming up on my 1-year in a couple of weeks, too! I'll have to break out the HandyCam and do a video. Congrats on all of the awesome work. I hope you feel some pride in the #steemsilvergold community. You made quite a lot of it happen. I will be picking up the 2017 and 2018 Silver Steem rounds - just to commemorate the awesomeness of these events. Resteemed.
(The 2017's are all sold out again!) X(

It's been a wild road for the precious metals community, stretched over the entire world, from North America, the UK, Australia, and spots in between........#steemsilvergold strong

Happy Anniversary Ray! You have done a lot for this group and the steemit platform. We have overcome a lot, even some adversity. We are a very strong group and I believe we are a positive force for the steemit platform. Congrats and Thanks for all that you do.

Who likes normal anyway? It's the weird ones that get things done and have great ideas.... Now we just got to get the thousands of other weird people here 😉

Hey ray congrats on achieving a milestone of 365 days of posting on steemit, belonging to a great community #steemsilvergold is like a family of like minded people coming together to pursue a common goal @raybrockman
