The view from the kitchen...right now...looking out into the front yard urban food forest. Plums, cherries and pluots, with understory of comfrey..clover and many other herbs. The first tree outside the window was planted deliberately in this spot so we could see it everyday!! It’s Luther Burbank’s Santa Rosa plum. She is the main pollenizer for the surrounding pluots and nearby pluerries. Luther’s work with plant genetics and hybrids inspired us to plant to this as one of our first trees 10 years ago. I love ALL she stands for!

Thank you Luther! It’s a dream come true growing your genetics and seeing them from my kitchen!

Cheers to our food freedoms Steem blockchain and Steepshot!

This is our number one book recommendation for emulating this type of food forest... in your urban neighborhood:

Beautiful!

So your food forest is planted in clumps, not a whole area? It makes for a very pretty view. Comfrey with fruit trees is a cool idea that I've been planning on. Got my order coming in from Coe's Comfrey soon :)

thanks so much nate!!! yah the front yard..is our youngest zone...and...kind of has archipelagos of growing areas...with fruit trees popping up. these islands ...grow more dense...and meet up and conjoin...throughout the full circle food forest...which encircles...the whole home. you can catch a full video tour here...which starts in our greenhouse...then we cruise around the whole food forest.

you can catch more tour updates on our youtube channel. i'm going to start uploading to Dlive and Dtube very soon! thanks for your support man...it's felt!!!

comfrey is my favorite plant...in the forest by far! a standard around most of our trees. each year we just spread it a little more. just looked up the coe's comfrey......sweet!! that's the variety we are growing....the "bocking 4."

"Coe’s Comfrey sells the Bocking #4 strain of Russian comfrey, Symphytum Peregrinum, which is best for hardiness, highest yield and the highest protein with high allantoin content; for fodder, compost and all around general use. "

we use it for general chop and drop...and compost teas. but we also dry it and do infuse it with oil....to make sweet face creams and muscle balms. such a bad ass plant!

Yeeeesss!

Words cannot express how excited I am to put it in our soil. I've heard you can wrap it around seed tubers for an explosive yield and I'm really excited to make compost tea/liquid manure out of it too!

The archipelago food forest is a really awesome idea. Just add another island or two every year.
