One of my most sought after curiosities finally gets reissued via BBE Records and 180 Proof Records! (audio)

It's funny how the brain works...

Years ago, I watched a video with House Shoes of Street Corner Music fame talking about his favorite records and other assorted stories. At the end of the video, House Shoes brings out his copy of this record here: The Lyman Woodward Organization Saturday Night Special, and basically talks about it as one of his most prized records. At the time of watching the video, I didn't know anything about it, what it sounded like, or that I needed it. But for whatever reason after watching that video, I knew instinctively I needed it, despite again, not having a clue what it sounded like.

Well it looks like the veil of mystery on this long-lusted after record has been lifted, because thanks to BBE Records and 180 Proof Records (owned by DJ Amir, of Kon & Amir fame), the record is being reissued, making my life easier so I don't have to sell my house to buy this record. And from what I can tell from a cursory listen, this album is definitely a must-have for jazz fans.

Now from what I can tell, the album spans a whole slew of different styles and sounds all while using jazz as it's backbone. However, I decided to focus on this one track since at first listen, this was the track that really grabbed my attention. It has the elements I look for in an obscure album track: odd and off-kilter arrangements, tons of organ blasts, stinging guitar work, and loose and funky drums. In short, it's everything I look for but really only serves to whet my appetite for an album that I'm sure will find a nice home in my collection for years and years to come.
