What does CPR mean in the Fishing Community?

in #fishing7 years ago (edited)

Being in a super populated area, it is difficult to catch good size fish. 3 lbs would consider an awesome catch. Today I caught my personal best off the kayak 4 lbs 14oz, shy 2 oz to 5 lbs

Catching big fish, you always have to cradle the belly since they are not used to being out of the water, their organs will be crushed by gravity if you hold it vertically. Hold them horizontally and support the belly

As mentioned, big fish doesn't come too often. If you can release it unharmed, by all means do so. These are the ones that will be laying eggs next season. The bigger the fish, the more eggs and more successful in defending it's nest.

This is what CPR means... Catch, Photo and Release! Support this practice so that we have a sustainable sport!

I like fishing and catching and releasing. Awesome post, I didn't know how important it is to cradle the belly.

thx man, yeah i learn something new all the time and being fans of big youtuber like Extreme Philly Fishing, I have learned a lot watching his videos as he drop pieces of useful information in almost every video. :) tight lines!

I know this is an old post, hunting around for fellow fishing fanatics. I didn't know about the reason people held by the stomach, I've not been doing that. Then again, none of my fish are very big :)
