Light stress was my plants problem
This overly ridged, small, narrow growth is from light stress. It took me forever to identify the cause because I don't think it's a real common problem for people to run into in early veg. I didn't realize that the plants really need a lot less light in veg than they do in flower, and a big part of that is the extra 50% of daylight they receive.
It's been about 2 days since I reduced the light source for them and they are bouncing back quite nicely already.
Very big bushy, toppy plant. I love this plants canopy so much, it's gonna work very well with the trellis.
I've got about 10 inches of growth to grow to fill the space out. Really that's only about 2.5 inches on each side of each plant. I am delaying flowering by at least one week. Growth has been stunted by this problem and I was planning on scrogging this weekend but since it took me until this weekend to identify the problem, I'm going to give them some time to correct and grow out of it before putting them into flowering.
They are really bouncing back quite well
