My Multi-Purpose Cupboard

Hello Everyone,

Last time I wrote about our adventure at Kithulgala. After that I couldn’t write for many days. Today I am going to tell you about my new cupboard.

This is somewhat different that’s why I am specially telling you about it.

Normally, a bedroom will have a wardrobe, a dressing table and few other furniture. Some people keep their bookshelf also in the bedroom, some use a different room for work and studies.

My bedroom is very small and I had only my bed, table, chair and my sister’s wardrobe in it. I had the need of my own wardrobe, dressing table and a bookshelf. But there is no space for them.

So I wanted to find furniture to manage my space. I looked into the smart furniture ideas, which are designed to attached drawers to the bed or bookshelf attached to bed likewise. But those ideas didn’t match with what I wanted.

After getting many ideas from them, I have thought my own design so I can manage my little space and have all three furniture at the same time.

There is a little space between my bed and the wall. About 20 inches width and 45 inches length. So I designed for that space.

Let me explain the design

Bookshelf

Bookshelf is the bottom of the cupboard which is an open area. This comes parallel to the bed. This is open because doors cannot be used since there is bed. Now I am storing my books as well as my crochet tools and items in this 😁.

Wardrobe

Wardrobe has Drawers and three Cupboards.

Drawers are much useful when organizing our items. Normally we see the drawers in wardrobe are inside it but I wanted them outside. So I can directly open them.

Dressing table(Not actually a dressing table)

In a side of this I have a big mirror which completes the main need of a dressing table. And there is this little cupboard for me to put my cosmetic items in it.

Since my uncle is a carpenter, we ask him for customized furniture all the time(gives him trouble by asking for hard to complete designs 😂). Anyway he always completes his job by giving the best finish to what we have asked.

This has cost me some large amount but it cost nearly 2 times that to buy from furniture shops and these customized designs cannot be found.

I love this one for saving my space and giving me the facilities for many work.
