8 days of protests against tax reform

in #blog6 years ago

Hi friends,

It seems that steemit is back online and so I will try to keep you informed about the current situation that is going on in Costa Rica. I can tell you everything first hand and I hope to do some good reporting about the real situation. The problem arises as the government want to include some goods that used to be exclude from taxes, increase the old tax for a new one and pretty much try to get as much resources as possible.

In an ideal country or state this should be no problem if the government can also show the benefits like good infrastructure or faster processing of requests in the administrative side of the bureaucracy. Problem is that people is tired of paying taxes and not seeing the advantages of doing so. There have been many political that stole resources or just have been spending in not so important stuff. As an example recently a city logo with the name cost more than 1 million USD just for the tourists to be able to take the picture and take it with them as good memory, but I don't want them to remember all the pot holes, traffic jam and craziness that you will see in the streets. Couple weeks ago or maybe almost a month now, there were 2 incidents that involved tourists being killed and not even talking about the security situation. This is not something to be proud of and I certainly hope for change and if that change requires me to increase my tax paying I will be fine with it, problem is that they want to increasing before even proving to be heading to the right direction.

On the positive side is that there have been few incidents that left injured people and thanks god no death counts so far. I hope that everything will be resolved peacefully and demonstrate that change can be done within a system that has its flaws but still is the less problematic and kind of work most of time.

I truly hope the situation resolves quickly!

It is sad that this is getting virtually no coverage by the media. Thanks for bringing some awareness.

Yeah local media is covering it but most likely to be government supporters. I guess soon if the situation is not resolved international media might cover it. Thanks for stopping by.
