Does what we eat influence our mood?

in #new8 years ago (edited)

The saying goes that "we are what we eat" and this time it is proven. A recent study showed that food is directly related to the mood of people, in relation to age and the amounts of certain types of food consumed.
The research was carried out by the team of Lina Begdache, professor of health and welfare studies at the University of Binghamton, New York, who determined that young people under 30 who eat fast food more than three times a week , have higher levels of mental anguish, who would say?
According to the study, this is because fast food, being rich in saturated fatty acids and omega-6, can cause a low-grade inflammatory response in the body and, at the same time, is related to anxiety and depression, both in the case of animals and humans (Now every time I eat fast food I will think about all this).
In addition, the investigation found that those who consumed meat three times a week had more mental health problems. The reason? it is because mood and flesh are linked at the cellular level: the tryptophan found in this food is the precursor of serotonin, the substance of the brain that is related to anxiety, insomnia and stress.
For adults over 30, the study found that eating fewer carbohydrates and more fruits reduces anxiety and depression.
Eat more fruits and vegetables!
