How Long Does a Dog Digestion
The duration of digestion in a dog depends on several factors, especially diet, race (large breeds vs. small breeds), and age.
While the digestion of raw and fresh foods can last from 4 to 6 hours, processed food digestion lasts for at least 10 hours and can reach up to 15 hours. Dogs have a digestive tract one third shorter than humans because the stomachs of dogs have the stomach more "acidic" than we. What does this mean? That foods disintegrate more quickly in the stomachs of dogs. They break down proteins and kill dangerous bacteria.
However, it is interesting to see that most commercial dry foods are mainly cereals, wanting us to believe that these are a fantastic source of protein for dogs, when the reality is that they have difficulty using this protein, so the more Cereal has a feed, the later the food to be digested.
