New Electric Vehicle Is Prepared to Take On Tesla

The Fisker eMotion

Two big pieces of news have come out from Fisker Inc: they have a fully operational prototype and they are now taking pre-orders.

This car has the potential to seriously take on Tesla. This is for a few reasons.

Firstly, the company is owned by Henrik Fisker, legendary Aston Martin car designer and the man behind one of the world's first plug-in hybrids (the Fisker Karma).

Secondly, Fisker has the funding to put the car together. This is a primary struggle for many upstart automakers, but Fisker's company seems to be well-funded.

Thirdly, Fisker already has the manufacturing capabilities. But perhaps best of all; look at this thing!

The cars proposed specs are amazing. The car is proposed to have a revolutionary 400+ mile range. However, along with offering leading range (which a 400+ mile range would be) it also allows faster charging, 125 miles in just 9 minutes.

The car starts at $130,000 sadly, and you can read more about it here.

There are some risks with the car. It's slated to begin production in 2019, but these dates are always tentative. The car's range is always subject to determination by the EPA, where it may not live up to expectations.

I am not sure they will be able to catch up to Tesla anytime soon.

And... that is a beautiful car.

Couldn't agree more! Fisker designs some amazing cars

I don't think it has a lot of chances of beating tesla if it plans entering the market in two years.

They are not really competing in the same markets, they want to beat tesla's model S by making a sportscar. But tesla aims to bring electric cars to the broader public by focusing on cheaper and cheaper models. While upgrading the model S.

It may beat the model S in the planned specs right now but two years is a lot of time in a fast moving sector like electric cars and tesla is upgrading its model S with a high frequency.

Good points. A Model S starts at $70,000. This only competes with a top of the line Model S. It'll be interesting to see how it stacks up come 2019 (like you say, Tesla has plenty of time to upgrade their current models).

I will say, it sure does look like a sports car. Really cool looking TBH.

I agree completely!! Fisker designs some fantastic looking vehicles. I want one so bad, but he had to go and put a $130k price tag on it.

Thanks for this information

Lol, this car looks so dope....

Yup! I've never seen a 4-door look so sleek

Fisker has always been few steps ahead of Tesla as far as design goes. Mr Fisker being an ex designer for Aston Martin has some great experience and that shows in all of his designed cars. Technologically they need some upgrading to do in order for them to be able to par up with Tesla, however I'm not really worried about that I think they should be catching up pretty soon.

This is a great post and I love the new design. Thumbs up for the post.
