Yes, It's a member of the blue jay family, but this birds official common name is the Western Scrub Jay. They are the bird most people think of when they hear the words blue jay and for good reason. This is the variety of Blue Jay that doesn't mind living in close proximity to humans. It's other Blue Jay cousins, like the larger Steller's Jay, are much more aloof, preferring heavily wooded areas.
