Algae Almost Killed My Blue Lotus Plant :(

As same as we initiate things we have to maintain them. It is the same with plants also. My blue lotus plant had grown well for the past few months with daily flowers, but recently I couldn't take care of it. When I last check, things have been messed up. The tank had affected by algae which had also impacted the blue lotus plants as well. Before starting the next round of rain, I decided to clean up the tank as well as my plants.

There were a few mango leaves fallen to the pond with the wind. First of all, I took out both pots with blue lotus plants. Then my brother removed all fish to a separate basin. I scratched out all algaes inside the pond using a brush until all of them get removed. Then let the pond dry without water.

The plant pots were totally disgusting due to the algae impact. You can see below how they have spread and even they have covered stems of leaves. So these pots needed additional care.

First I brushed out the algae around each pot. I realized that all the baby plants that came from the mother plant had heavily covered with algae. One baby plant was broken when I trying to clean it, so I decided to remove the smaller plants from the pot.

Little plants were almost destroyed but I wanted to give it a try to protect them. So first I tried to remove algae on leaves using flowing water.

It helped only a little. Then I rubbed the leave using my fingers and this made things a little bad. This damaged the greeny layer of the leave. I think I removed the upper epidermis of leaves :(

I tried to replant the small plants in a separate pot and keep them in controlled conditions. So I made some mud and planted all three baby plants.

After rubbing off the upper soil layer of lotus plants, I kept them in another pond until I verify my plants are algae-free. I didn't forget to add fertilizer to pots to boost flowering and growth.

Looking forward to doing an update on what will happen next!
