So a little over 3 years ago I stumbled upon a great concept art by Lior Arditi. I was in love almost immediately by the colors created in this medium, I wanted to try to see if it could be done in Minecraft, an under-appreciated art medium which captures everyone's love for creating anything they can think of.

So I set off creating. I Started with creating the main character which gave me chills down my spine when I first saw it. I was extra careful with the proportions at this stage, since in Minecraft there exists a height limit that makes it hard to make anything too detailed, you have to get creative with how you go about it.

after having established the main size the rest was easier to distinguish what the rest of the size would be.

progress 2

Rest of the work took place over many months as I had an incomplete image, it's easy to copy someone else's ideas, but to complete is something different as it requires putting yourself in their mind.
I had to go with the same theme for the back side and the parts that weren't visible in the painting. I, therefore, decided to go with the theme of a toy store, instead of the artist's initial idea of a circus.

I also added a housing complex for any small creature that might be living in this scary wagon,
and a cozy interior to the inner wagon.

Now you might ask yourself, why is the bridge in the first picture and wagon separate in the other pictures?
Well as I mentioned earlier Minecraft, unfortunately, has a height limit, making it difficult to build anything you can imagine in detail in default texture pack.
Hence I extracted the wagon and bridge separately.
So they could be composed in an external 3d program and rendered as the painting.

upon completion, I sent my result to Lior to thank him. and recieved below quote from him.
"
you did an awesome work with the detail. love all the little and ideas you came up with.
I am happy to hear my art is inspiring others...
keep it up!!

all the best
" -Lior Arditi.

never be afraid to take inspiration from someone else's work and build upon that to add your own touch and remember to think outside the block.
I hope my new found Steemit friends enjoyed content, and if you have thoughts on what other stuff I should create then feel free to write in the comments below! write regardless because it makes me happy to hear what other thinks of my work!
