Berenuk is the name of plants and fruits are often considered also as a fruit Maja. Though both are different plants. Who would have thought, berenuk that has the Latin name Crescentia cujete has various properties ranging from as herbal remedies, rat pest repellents, to potentially as a source of bioethanol. So often fruit berenuk not utilized.

Know the Tree Berenuk.

Plant berenuk can grow as high as 10 meters with cylindrical rod. The bark is grooved, the color is white and has a simpodial branching. Typical compound leaf, bone pinnate leaves, green with smooth, oval-shaped surface with smooth leaf edges. Leaf length ranges from 10-15 cm with a width of 5-7 cm.

Physically smaller fruit size diameter between 5-12 cm compared berenuk berries that size up to 20 cm.

Trees and fruit berenuk still rarely used. Its existence is often only as a decorative yard or greening tree. Though these plants actually have great potential benefits. The leaves and stems contain saponins and folipenol. While in the fruit contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, polyphenols, vitamins A, C, E, niacin, riboflavin, thiamin, carbohydrates, and minerals that include sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium.

As an herbal remedy, the leaves of berenuk tree pounded as nutritious wound cover. Even some parties although need further research leaves can be used to reduce hypertension. Flesh berries and berenuk seeds have efficacy as a cure-urus uric, colds, bronchitis, asthma, to difficult urination.
