The Derawar Fort was first built in the 9th century by Rai Jajja Bhati, a Hindu Rajput from Jaisalmir in India's Rajasthan state. the most interesting thing is that there is actually an underground train that took the former king from his palace to the fort.
I have only visited the fort once but since then I have been in awe of this huge structure, Covering an area of about 1500 sq meters.
The fort is however decaying at an alarming speed and seemingly, no one seems to be bothered about it. Derawar Fort needs a major restoration work failing which this great desert fort will be lost for ever. Govt of Pakistan needs to pay special attentions towards it's maintenance.
