Garden Progress - Finally!!

Due to a colder than normal spring, the garden progress has been painfully slow. However, despite the past several days of more clouds and rain, it has finally begun to warm up enough for things to start taking off. By now most of the chicken yard should be mostly obscured from this angle by beans and peas, but at least I can actually see them growing now and I am guessing it will not be long before they catch up to where they should be.

The potatoes over by the chicken coop look amazing, I do not think I have seen them look quite so healthy in past years, and my herbs have been abundant!

Late though most everything is, I am feeling blessed right now to finally see so much green, wonderful life in my garden!

I've had a terrible start on my garden this year too. It was so cold that it killed many of my transplants. All of my tomatoes are volunteers because they look better than the ones I started inside from seed. If we continue to get this abundant rain throughout the summer, I see great abundance for the fall.

Yep, sounds like here. I went ahead and direct seeded a bunch of stuff when I saw the transplants I had started in the greenhouse either die or just stop growing, The direct seeded vegetation is looking healthier and catching up quickly to those I started in my greenhouse. Glad I did both!

Yeah, it's a good thing a gardener always get a second chance. I transplanted lettuce and half of it didn't make it. I replanted more in the empty spots. The good news is it spread out my Harvest.

Very similar in New Hampshire. very little to no germination of most seeds we planted due to cold days and then a couple of 100 degree days then more cold days. I think the seeds must have died from confusion.

We have not had any days that hot, but we have had some very mid summer like days, then back to the cold. So yes, I think the confusion thing surely was a factor! haha

So we explain things to ourselves...confusion is probably mine.
I always tell people that it gets hotter up here because we are closer to the sun. ha ha

Me too. my garden is currently cancelled due to rain. We must be living in Canada

Peninsula of Washington state here, but yeah, might as well be up there with you! haha

Our garden got hit by a late late frost a few weeks back but recovered and is doing well now. Looking forward to getting our new polytunnel set up this week to overcome some of the weather issues.

Very cool! Following you now and thanks for stopping in :D

polytunnel? I'd like to hear about that.

Earlier this year the fruit and nuts trees blossomed like they never had before. What a beautiful sight. And then on Mothers Day just up the road they had snow. That was frightening but it somehow worked out here and the blossoms were not hurt...maybe their location on an eastern facing slope protected them. At least God did!

That looks like a garden out of a magazine! Awesome work!

Thank you so much! :D
