AI can best be described as a complex computer algorithm that is capable of solving problems seamlessly and even making decisions and adapting to certain changes and behaviors.

Advantages of AI

No doubt that AI has countless advantages as it helps and contribute positively in our daily lives, and we can't talk about the negative effects without mentioning the advantages and benefits, some of the advantages of AI are;

• AI helps in medical and scientific advancement
• AI helps in solving complex global problems such as climate change and cyber security etc.

Disadvantages of AI

Some of the various disadvantages and negative effects of AI are as follows;

• AI has claimed some various human jobs causing and increasing the number of unemployment
• AI makes our brain domant as most of the thinking are made by them
• AI increase the level of laziness amongst people through psychomotor assistant

So in general, the negative effects of AI can be seen in all aspects of life and all aspects of its importance. For example, there is no doubt that AI helps in solving problems and calculations, but as a result of that, even the simplest calculations are now viewed as being difficult because we refuse to expose our brains to them; rather, we let AI do all the work.

Also, AI makes people become more and more lazy as time passes. For example, so many people can't even climb the stairs anymore; that is why they make use of escalators and elevators. There is no doubt it makes life easier, but trust me, no good thing comes out of our comfort zone.

Negative effects of AI on students

First of all, I am a student, and trust me, what I have been seeing lately isn't encouraging at all, especially when assignments are being given. In the past, students would do research to complete their assignments, but now they just let AI do the work for them while they copy and paste.

It is very bad because it does not allow students to engage in both abstract and complex thinking; rather, it makes the brain dormant and dull.

A possible solution to this problem

In the area of students, there's only one way that we can find a solution to this problem, and that can only be achieved through oral tests.

The use of oral tests and presentations can really help students to reduce their dependency on AI and focus more on improving their reading time, because when a person is reading and studying in order to make a presentation, that person is definitely learning something.

So, in my view, the adoption of oral tests can be very effective in the area of students to help reduce their overall dependency on AI.
