Work Still in Progress - Singularity

Singularity 1.2.jpg

It's coming along. There've been a couple setbacks. First, the nebula I had decided to use for the background didn't turn out to be all that I thought it would be, so I went over it again. Then I picked a different nebula (The stem of the fairy nebula). Then, I started adding the explosive light from behind the two masks.

Then, the bottle of black airbrush ink I was using damn near exploded on me, spraying paint all over the piece. I don't know what happened yet, since I haven't had the chance to look up why, but it seemed like maybe the little jar got hyper-pressurized or something. Paint spurted out of the top like a slashed artery. I didn't notice until it stopped how much of it was just all over my painting, so I had to run and get a sponge and paper towel to mitigate the damage.

Some of it smeared, and I ended up having to fix a bunch of details by painting over them again. It's almost back to how it was. Left to do are mostly details. The airbrush softened the eyes a bit too much, so I'll be going back in with my brush. Also, the explosions are a bit too soft. I'll need to add some striking lines in.

And I already have another idea ready to go. This one will be much more nostalgic for Canadians, at least. I don't know if this commercial made any international television, but we had an adorable PSA commercial educating us about the House Hippo, which finished at the end to tell us to always think critically, because not everything we see is true. Here, check it out:

I'm going to paint it into a wee little cup. Very cute.

Also, it's tax time. I didn't want to do them today, but it's been decided for us both by only one of us that we're doing them today. I'm really annoyed.

It sounds you have had a bit of adventure with the airbrush ink. Looking at the painting it looks really nice with the nebula you have chosen, unlike you I prefer to do the background first so that I do not pay attention to the edges of my main characters. When you do oil painting then it is easy to over paint as everything is still wet and you have time to correct if you need to.
