"Mona Lizard" And other conspiracies.

16x20" Acrylic on canvas.

We're officially back home, and I have officially 5 days to finish several paintings I wanted to have up in my October show. We'll have to see how that goes, since I'm also working a couple nights this week, and I have to go invoice some folk.

So NOW I'm obsessing over the volcanic activity all the large earthquakes have been connected to, including the ash spewn from valcanoes in Mexico, but especially the imminent eruption in Bali. I spent hours at my mother-in-law's trying to find out as much information as possible on the historical prevalence of seismic and volcanic activity in the past century or so.

The news makes it look like there has never before been this much dramatic activity, because I guess that's what sells. However, my research implies to me that in spite of the devastation in Mexico, numbers aren't significantly higher for amount of seismic activity. There are just more of us, and far better equipment to monitor these things happening. Bali has evacuated 75,000 people, which was NOT what happened before the deadly eruption there in 1963 that killed over a thousand people.

I was also, naively surprised to find out how many volcanoes are currently erupting in the world, and how many have been doing so for years or decades. As it turns out, volcanic eruptions are actually part of nature's cooling system. The earth will drop a couple degrees for us if we have the major eruption we're expecting.

Mikey has another theory about the deadly weather around the Atlantic basin. He suspects that the major oil drilling explosion in the Gulf of Mexico, which was a deep-water drill through a fault line, and is spewing oil is the cause of the warmer sea temperatures, and the tectonic pressure changes. I honestly don't know enough about the situation, not being a geologist, but it's very convincing to me for what little I think I know.

Anyway, I'm not one for apocalyptic theories. I don't think we're witnessing the end of days. I think we're witnessing many tragedies, but an opportunity to enforce positive environmental change, against the wishes of so many corporate machines. I think we're coming to a point in history where we'll no longer accept massive endangerments for the gain of the already wealthy.

Thanks a lot, @offgridlife. No worries. :)

Mona Lisa was a reptilian, that's why no one could figure it out her smile, she was an alien all along! I really like the ufo detail hahaha. Great work Rachel!

Thanks @siucatti! Yes, it was that blue-blood reptilian nature that kept us wondering! :D

Mona the Draconian!

The saucer in the background really ties in the reptilian alien theme. The hands look great too!

Thank you! Hands are very difficult, I find. :)
