Valley of Hell
In the village of Qumamine, Akkar district north of Lebanon you will find the deepest valley in Lebanon and the Middle East at an altitude between 850 and 2000 meters from the sea, known to be one of the most rugged areas where it’s surrounded by mountains on three sides with only one outlet on the western side which is the course of the “Cold River” (in arabic Nahr El-bared), this area is the “Valley of Hell”.
This area is one of the most beautiful places where the nature has divided the mountains to hug the water carving an amazing scene perfumed with the fresh pine air.
Also it’s considered to be the stronghold of plant diversity where it contains more than 2,200 plants most of them are rare species and it is one of the richest places in freshwater springs with the “Nahr El-bared” river and the waterfall that formed at the top of “Qumamine” village.
The people of this area depend mainly on agriculture because of the abundance of water in addition to the traditional cattle breeding and the bee-cones.
The area also have a large number of elderlies (who are over 90 years old) where the inhabitants have a strong structure and excellent memory due to their clean and pure way of living.

It was a pleasure to see. I have been to The Golan, and have been in Syria and Jordan, but when I was in the area, it was really just impossible to go into Lebanon... I grew up with Lebanese refugee neighbors and I must say it is a rich ancient culture and most folks in the west have no clue how rich, deep, and strong the family culture is. I hope that Lebanon finally gets out from under the boot of bullying nations, and can once again, stand on ity's own without external interference,. It would be nice to see Beirut returned to it's glory as a bastion of moderation and a signal of freedom in the Arab world.
