SNOW ? . . . No! Hail Stones!!
It was an overcast afternoon and I was pottering around the vegetable garden when a cold breeze swept in from the south
I looked up and heavy rolling clouds darkened the sky. I noticed some were lined with a yellowish brown colour. A sure sign of coming hail
The wind speed increased alarming fast and I realized we were in for some heavy weather
Time to get the babies in . . .
This is Padkos, translated means Food for the road. She was a great mother hen that fostered these ducklings and protected them fiercely
I called her and her brood and put them under shelter
The storm hit and was over within an hour . . .
Rex our magnificent Alsatian loved the hail and lay there for ages simply chilling - excuse the pun!
Indian Runners are the comedians of the duck world and gave us many hours of laughter and pleasure
These ducks, when sitting on eggs smell them with the tips of their beaks and roll out any that are rotten! Thus preventing any more becoming contaminated
God's creations are truly awesome!
The hail covered the ground up to 120 mm that is 5 inches deep
Oh, I nearly forgot to tell you. Did you know that only the Drake (the male) can make a noise?
Makes you think. Does't it ? ? ? ?
Very awesome photography .
I appreciate your write . keep it up .
