Bewitched mountain! Wild, mysterious, dry and beautiful

in #blog7 years ago

This province is a semi desert part of the Western Cape, South Africa. But it can still produce flowers like these . . .

And legends. . .
The mountain in the center of the photo has a huge hole in its peak, which gave it the name of "Towerkop" translated literally from Afrikaans means Bewitched mountain head. Ancient stories tell of an angry witch flying through the the peak causing the huge hole in the centre and the gaping tear splitting it down the middle
I am determined to get up close and personal with that mountain on my next visit to the Karroo. Be assured that I will chat to the locals to get the full story about the angry witch and will also post lots of additional photos of the mountain on Stemit later this year

Amazing sunset. Any idea what kind of wildflowers those are? Reminds me of the yellow brick road in the Wizard of Oz.

The sunsets and sunrises in the Karroo are really very different. I will make a point of taking more pic's of them on my next visit
Those flowers are Namaqua daisies
