Who is Ridley Scott?

 A British director and producer known for his great cinematic works, such as: Alien, Thelma & Louise, Gladiator, Black Hawk Dawn, The Martian. Scott has loved watching movies since childhood, and when he entered university he developed his passion for film. 

 

The beginnings of Ridley Scott

Producer and director Ridley Scott was born on November 3, 1937 in South Shields, England, and his parents are Elizabeth and Cole Francis Percy Scott. He has two brothers, one of whom is Tony Scott, who has become a film director.Scott has loved watching movies since childhood, and when he entered university he developed his passion for film. He helped establish the film department at the Royal College of Art and his final project was a short film titled Boy and Bicycle. His brother Tony worked with him in the film, which was his first directing experience. After graduating Scott worked as a designer for BBC training sites, where he worked with a number of famous television dramas at the time.

In the late 1960s, Ridley Scott founded the Ridley Scott Foundation, a commercial advertising agency, and his brother Tony worked with him. The company drew attention to Scott Brothers, along with other commercial directors including Alan Parker and Hugh Hudson. Scott continued to work on his directing talent. In 1977, he received my work as director of The Duellists, which was nominated for the Cannes Film Festival and won the Best Film Award.Scott then directed Aliens movies, starring Segorny Weaver, and the Blade Runner from Harrison Ford, Blade Runner failed at the box office in 1982, but was later considered a classic film. In 1986, Tony Scott launched his first successful film at the box office Top Gun, in which he directed a blow to his older brother, Raidley. But Ridley took it back in 1991 with Thelma & Louise, starring Guinna Davis and Susan Sarandon. The film was one of his most successful films and Scott was nominated for Best Director.Scott and his brother Tony founded Scott Free Production in 1995 and worked together on a large number of TV and commercial shows, as well as the 2000 film Gladiator, Russell Crowe, a success added to Scott. Gladiator won five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor, and Scott was nominated for another Oscar for his directing efforts. Scott then worked with Crow in four upcoming films.After the success of Gladiator, Scott Black Hawk Down starring Ewan McGregor and Josh Hatnet, Hannibal starring Anthony Hopkins, Julian Moore and Ray Liotta. He then made a number of successful films, including American Gangster, starring Denzel Washington, who worked with Tony Scott in more than five films, Leonardo DiCaprio's Body of Lies and Russell Crowe's Robin Hood.Scott made the film in 2010, which was originally a second part of Alien, but ended up becoming a separate film called Prometheus, which began in June 2012. He also produced a commercial ad for the new fragrance of singer Lady Gaga.After starring in the film The Counselor in 2013, written by Comrach McCarthy, it was a starry film, but the critics' opinions conflicted with him. He directed the epic film Exodus: Gods and Kings in 2014 and played the role of Moses Christian Bell and Joel Edgerton as Ramses. The film sparked controversy about its ethnically-orientated themes, and its revenues were mediocre at the box office in the United States, but it was more successful outside.His next film, The Martian, was a high-budget film that did not achieve the desired success inside and outside the United States. He won the 2016 Golden Globe Award for best picture, acting and music. The film also nominated Oscar for Best Picture, along with other nominations.In November 2017, following allegations of sexual harassment against actor Kevin Spacey, Scott made an unusual move by cutting off the scenes of the accused artist from his completed film. The director announced the re-filming of the scenes with actor Christopher Plummer, and his intention to release the film on schedule.Despite the great change and difficulties in re-creating the shooting sites and actors, Scott managed to win the Golden Globe nomination as the best director. He described the move as a small coordination with much panic, adding that he was the most urgent work he has ever done in his life.

Scott married twice and has three children, all of whom are connected to cinematic works. He was awarded a knighthood in the United Kingdom in 2003.Scott suffered a major shock following the suicide of his brother Tony on 19 August 2012.
