He was largely a self-learning musician known for his fusion of different musical genres, making it difficult to categorize his style exactly.What added to his distinction along with the creation of hybrid music, was the writing of sarcastic words, funny and simple character.Zaba was asked to receive a band called Soul Giants to be renamed The Mothers of Invention and released her first album, "Freak Out!", The first rock album.Zaba was more interested in his artistic freedom than commercial success, preferring to work as an independent artist during most of his long and fruitful career spanning three decades. 

 

The beginnings of Frank Zappa

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1940, Frank Zaba is a father of Sicily of Greek and Arab descent and a mother of Italian and French descent. Frank was his oldest brother and brother and sister.His father, Francis Vincent, was a chemist and mathematician who worked in the defense industry and the family often moved because of his job requirements. In his childhood, he was accidentally exposed to mustard and radium, leading to several diseases, such as asthma, earaches and sinuses. Because of his frequent family travel, he attended several secondary schools.During his study at Mission Bay High School he began playing drums in a musical band. He did not like mainstream music at the time but was influenced by composers such as Igor Stravinsky and Anton Webern.

He left his home in 1959 and worked in marketing for a short while while trying to find a foothold for him as a musician and composer. He played his music in various nightclubs and recorded soundtrack for a number of low-budget films.He wrote songs and composed thousands of music for other artists during the early 1960s. He also recorded some songs with singers and songwriters Ray Collins and Paul Puff, helping him earn enough money to organize his own concert in 1963.In 1965, he was asked to join the Soul Giants by Ray Collins, joined as a singer and guitarist, and was renamed the The Moms of Invention.The band released their first album, "Freak Out!" In 1966. This work was considered one of the first albums to carry the concept of rock music. The album was well received in Europe, paving the way for the following successes.The following year, two albums were released: "Absolutely Free", which included political and social ridicule, as well as the album "Lumpy Gravy", which was the music of an orchestra.In 1968, the band released "We're Only in It for the Money", once again an acclaimed album that criticized politics and popular hippie culture at the time. The album's music was a mix of rock and orchestra.The band grew more choppy with time, but it was not a good material success. Its members were eventually separated in 1969.His first album after the band's release was "Hot Rats", released in 1969. He appeared in a very different voice from his previous albums and focused more on music than on vocal performance.A new band formed in 1970 called The Mothers, which included drummer Anisley Dunbar, George Duke, Ian Underwood, Jim Pons and others. The band's first album was Chunga's Revenge.Among the many albums he released during the 1970s, the most famous were "Over-Nite Sensation" in 1973, "Sheik Yerbouti" and "Joe's Garage Act I".Most of Zaba's creativity was concentrated in the 1980s when he produced many albums every year. He was very passionate about music and valued the value of freedom in artistic expression. Among his most famous albums in this decade are The Man from Utopia (1983), Them or Us' (1984), and Guitar (1987).In 1990 the great musician was diagnosed with cancer. But he continued to write music even as he struggled with the disease. Among the many albums he released in the years before his death, "The Yellow Shark" in 1993 was his last album.Many of his new albums were released after his death by using material that was not previously officially released from his recordings, and Frank Zaba's legacy continued even after his premature death.He received a Grammy Award for his lifetime achievements after his death in 1997.
