I just realised I haven't checked Twitter or any other social network since I started using Steemit
What a time to be alive, I'm now being paid to shitpost. Yes it's only a couple of bucks, but I'd ordinarily be doing it for free. We all would. Usually though, the only people benefiting would be Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, Silicon Valley and a handful of celebs.
Like it or not, most traditional jobs - even minimum wage McJobs - are becoming a thing of the past, automation will see to that. Soon people will have to find multiple streams of income to support a family as more and more people find themselves obsolete on the 9-5 job market.
This is why Steemit is a huge leap in the right direction and will probably be the only social media platform I use from now on. When you write down your thoughts online, or create a shitty meme, you are creating value for the social network. People come to social networks because there's other people on there to make them laugh, keep them informed and view their content. In other words YOU are the value. Why should only a handful of lucky ones benefit from the value you provide?
Imagine for a sec when we put real content up here instead of shitposts. Lets be friends steemian. #upvoteforupvote man. I did so you do too.
I'm just happy making a few short posts and earning a few cents here and there, like I said I'd be doing it anyway, but usually get nothing. I won't try and make a living out of it.
