Pride...... - Proverbs 16:18

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. This verse of the scriptures is a warning to all of us.
Most of us do not even know that we are proud. We are always too full of ourselves; especially, when you feel you have achieved something and others around have not. When you look at the proud, you see a kind of swollen chest, bent head, lips bent and shot out in mockery of the other person, walking style changes, shoulders add heights, the back is hunched, eyes dart here and there etc.
It was Pride that evacuated Satan from its original position in Heaven. It is the proud that disdains instructions, verse 5 of the Chapter has this to say - everyone Proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; though they join forces, none will go unpunished. It is proud that thinks everything he has is by his own wisdom and power. The proud does not honour God; when the proud is in an exalted position, and he is invited to attend a Church Launching; he goes late, and also leaves immediately after the donation.
May the LORD help us in the Church to be self sufficient.
