[Upper Echelon] Haiku and Photography
juniper stands guard under
Nero is fiddling
This shot was taken below the steps of the art gallery. The unique low-corner perspective allows for the inclusion of the upper floors of Hotel Vancouver, a luxury Fairmont property. There is even a smidgen of the Hotel Georgia suites to the right, another very expensive Vancouver property. Vancouver is quickly becoming one of the most expensive cities in the world to live. Looking at this shot and the art gallery's classic columns, I was reminded of ancient Rome. The clouds do appear as smoke rising from the buildings. When Rome fell, its emperor, Nero, was said to fiddle as it burned.
The photo and words are my own.
Particularly, I found it even educational, for I didn't know this hotel, neither what juniper was ☺
Thank you, Marlyn. Juniper is often used to spice gin. It has a lovely flavour:)
nice photo - reminds me of the Royal York Hotel in Toronto - another Fairmont property - Nobody actually lives in Vancouver - they get by, LOL!!
It is a beautiful place, but yes becoming so expensive that downtown at least ... it is where rich people have their vacation condos. Sad but more and more the truth.
The shot was spectacular and the relationship between the image and the historical reference is great. I congratulate your creative art, dear Pryde.
Thank you, zeleira:)
