My Own Way (Original)

in #story8 years ago

I've been doing it my own way,
kicking the smiles down the road.
Light rocks in my path, then great boulders,
they roll down.

And they slow down, all my plans.
I'm forced to think of what it means
to live again.

But I'm gonna do it my way,
I'll ride the breeze out of town.
I'll get out of this place,
and see how long my face holds up, now.

So when the music slows I'll
understand, and not just lapse into
indifference.

Guess I've gotta learn a new way.
Feet to flames, nose to stone.
So I'll buck up, I'll pack up, pull the truck up,
and find a home, how?

No one knows, but I'll
meet those ends. In the end, that's all
the difference.

If you wanna do it your way,
sometimes you've gotta stand alone.
In a strang place with a strange name,
by a strange phone that calls home.

But you never call home, just cause you can.
You're broke, and learning to love
and live again.
