Great Star (Original)
If we grew flowers for a hundred days
to see who'd rule the worlds
I know that yours would burst with life
while mine would simply curl.
The night before the contest ends
I'd switch between the two
so that I'd win the mortal realm
and thus prove myself true.
Thats how I'd come to rule the earth
while you would rule the grave,
and I would learn from turning dust
just what I'd really gained.
Soon I'd seek you out again
to ask you for your help
in beating back the noise and sin
that keeps us from ourselves.
And you, Great Star, will fight and slay
the second sun and moon,
Then return to where you stay
Though you will leave too soon.
You'll forgot our human sins
And leave us as their prey,
we'll say "that's how it's always been,
And how it shall remain."
If we grew flowers for a hundred days
Some where, some time again
I'd just bow out and simply say
"Oh, Great Star, you win."
