JENGA : A mental and physical game - Perfect for the kids to keep them away from their smart phones!

in Steem Kids & Parents2 years ago

Greetings of the day lovely community of Steemkids!

I hope you are all having a great weekend and spending good times with the family.

Its been quite a long time since I last posted here and I am so happy to be able to write this post right now! And this post is really for you kids, disconnect a little with your smart phones from time to time...it's very important!

Rheem and Omar!!!

Yeah, I have 2 kids - Rheem my daughter who recently turned 8yrs old and my son Omar, who is now 3!

And they are both hooked on their smart phones for long hours, and I think many parents around the world are having this problem...

What's the solution to make the kids at least disconnect for some time!???

I won't say, I got the magical solution...but still this game that I just saw here in Mauritius and which I bought for my daughter, is something simply amazing to have!

Let me explain a bit...

Rheem holding her newly bought Jenga Game!

Couple of days back, it was Rheem herself who told me about this game she saw on YouTube and I told her, If I see it somewhere in Mauritius for sure I will buy it for her!

And Bam...yesterday I learnt from my niece (who bought one too!), that they are available in a shop called Mozouzou!

My wife went to buy it for her earlier today as I was busy doing a food delivery in the southern part of the island.

By 4pm we were back home and opened the game together with her...

Jenga is a game where players (2 to 6 players) take turns removing one block at a time from a tower constructed of 54 small wooden blocks.

Each block removed is then placed on top of the tower, creating a progressively more unstable structure and the one who make the tower falls, lose the game.

Smart Phones out...let's play Jenga!!!

This Jenga game is so addictive...even for adults like me!

Below is Rheem ready for her first ever Jenga game with me, which was also my first time ever...

And...I was the winner! Woo-hoo!

Rheem was a tough opponent and I was lucky at many times but in the end she made the tower fall...

Omar Joined in too...

Though he was making a mess, but this Jenga game kept both of them away from their phones since I brought it home today...

I feel that this game will keep the kids busy...

Instead of them losing time watching videos on Youtube and playing games that don't give them anything in return, I prefer to have both Omar and Rheem playing games like this Jenga one.

Even my niece Sofia played some rounds and kept her mobile away!

We do have a lot of games that we can play with the kids and make them disconnect a bit from this internet/smartphone/social media life - The kids need it and we parents we need to look ways to make it happen!

Other interesting games that coming to my head right now are : Scrabble / Monopoly / Carrom / Baby Foot etc...

Oh well, we have many more and it would be interesting reading from you - What kind of games you play with your kids in your region?

Thanks for reading and wish you a lovely Sunday ahead!
Best Regards!

Even I and my kids will like to play Jenga games. I Like it. It will really keep the kids away from phones. That's very thoughtful of you. But I believe they will still have access to their device, right? Lols. Thanks for keeping them busy. Omar and Rheem are grown big now and they are cheerful kids. Hope to read more of your activities with the kids

This is an insightful approach. Thanks to technology and development most children in my region don't really play outdoors again. Both adults and children seem so addicted to fiddling with the phone. I am one of those people attached to my phone though. It is my workstation at the moment. With regard to games, I see most people play games on their phones these days. Only a few people practise the age-long tradition of playing draft, ludo, ayo etc.
