What do we expect from Teenagers?
What does society expect from teenagers, by we I mean society, and mostly the Government, but also silly parents who don't know any better...?
Well damn these rascal teenagers, always disobedient, they don't want to go to school, they just want to have fun and party, and fall in love.
Damn, why don't these rascal kids want to sit 12 hours a day in a bench obeying the teachers, like a good servant would? Damn this rebellious attitudes, I mean they have to learn discipline, in order to be good factory workers later, and work 16 hours a day in a factory, pay 50% of their income to the Government in order for our lord and savior Government to have money to blow up hospitals in 3rd world nations:
I mean there is clearly something wrong with adolescent teens for not going down this route. They should just better get used to it, just finish your 12 years of school indoctrination, make sure you get into college so that you can have a 300,000$ debt, and you won't get a passport to leave the country until you pay the debt, so you will be a serf for the rest of your life?
Isn't that wonderful 16 year old kids? Isn't that a magnificent future, that society has planned out for ya? I think it's great.
The Education System was built on the Prussian Model, which was implemented in 1800's in Prussia, Austria-Hungary, and later all other great powers including the US, and taught people to be order following people. To either become a factory worker or a soldier, in order to fight for their country.
The Prussian System turned independent teens into order following servants, to never question authority, and to never question a single order.
An order is an order, never question it, "Befehl ist Befehl", which is how the Nazis committed the Holocaust. The Nazi that operated the Gas Chambers didn't question the order he got from his superior, and thus 11,000,000 people died in horrible agony and suffering.
But of course nobody talks about that, I mean nothing has changed in the education system since the Holocaust, it's the same order following mentality that is taught in the schools as it was in Nazi Germany.
But nobody cares about that, I mean these rascal teens have to be disciplined right?
So you might think that as a teen you should just fall in love, find a girlfriend or a boyfriend and explore the world and be free. But that is not what you should do, you should just instead sit in a Nazi Brainwashing Prison (Public School) and obey authority, that is the whole point of your existence isn't it?
I mean it's too cheesy to just fall in love and have fun, isn't it just so much better than to just obey authority?
Most schools have bars on their window an police guarding the school, it definitely doesn't look like a Concentration Camp for kids. There is probably an explanation for that other than child slavery....
I mean who in their right mind would take his girlfriend to a movie and then afterwards have your first kiss in a romantic place, when you can just stay at home and do your home work?
It's just so much better to just obey your teacher and your parents, just do your homework, forget about your girlfriend, it's not important, you should just study for exam, go to college, get into huge debts, and work the rest of your life as a supermarket clerk paying off the debt. Isn't that just so much better?
I mean clearly nobody cares about how the school system was directly responsible for most of the genocides in the 20th century, and parents are clearly eager to send their kids to school. So what could possibly go wrong?
I have been beaten and tortured by the teachers when I was a kid, so I have learned that obeying authority is just so wonderful. Long live the King! It's just so much better if we have a ruler to rule over us, we definitely need a Hitler or somebody like that....
Isn't being forced to go to school from 2 years of age until 18 the best possible way to treat your children?

We've talked about this before, before public education peoples' options were limited to what their parents could teach them or, if they were lucky, apprenticing themselves to someone in order to learn their craft.
I had capital punishment too, but I don't throw the baby out with the bathwater by trying to advocate we don't teach kids just because I had bad experiences.
BTW did you learn English in your public school?

I HAVE NEVER SAID that kids should not be taught. I mean it's not like we would have kids like "Tarzan" grown up by wolves and bears in a forest.
Parents would still teach their kids, but only usefull stuff. Most things you learn in government school is absolutely useless.
One method is homeschool....
I did, but actually most of my english I have learned from cartoons as a kid, then later from movies. What I learned in school was mostly grammar, but I forgot most of that.
So does society.

You can thank public school for teaching you enough to understand those cartoons and movies. And you claim you forgot the grammar, but honestly you're one of the best non-native English writers I see on here. The lessons seem to have stuck with you even if you don't explicitly remember it.

Second, yes... society does seem to be getting crazier because anarchist types are getting ever more outlandish in their attacks on government. Now we're supposed to believe NASA has a slave colony on Mars for instance.
Oh, and as for the "you have the internet" for access to information... you just wrote an article about how 16 year olds want to party rather than learning. Now, what? You expect them to stop partying and spend all their time googling advanced mathematics?
Yes at age 16 they should be having fun instead of sitting in a prison.
But that doesnt mean that they will party all their day, like they would not be drunk 24/7.
They would spend some time learning some stuff, other times they would do else.
Learning can be fun too, you dont have to force knowledge into people's heads, who knows they might get it voluntarily too.
When you're talking about teenagers? I disagree. They literally haven't developed the capacity to plan for their future yet. I sure as hell wouldn't have, and frankly I wish I had paid more attention in math class.

The expectation from parents this days is just about school. They think that nothing could possibly get wrong if the child goes to school. Which shouldn't be the case. As you said nobody cares about how the school system was directly responsible for most of the genocides in the 20th century, and parents are clearly eager to send their kids to school. The school sylabules has been there for like hundred of years without change how could the morden child come. This should change.

It's centuries long imperialism and remnants of Nazism that are still present in our modern society.
It's very grotesque to see, on one hand a modern semi-civilized society with 21 century values, and on the other hand a bronze age mythology of rule by force still clinging on, like a leech clings on a host body.
I agree with you. I have 2 teenagers, and I believe school is just a brainwashing system to teach people how to be slaves. I can't take them out of school because it's mandatory, but I repeatedly tell them they will go to college ONLY if they are pursuing a career that needs it and loans are out of the question in my household.

Excellent post. I cannot understand how people fail to see they're basically sending their kids to jail..or concentration camps, as you say.
However, I must say that many of the teenagers I know are not the disobedient "rascals" you talk about. I don't know, maybe because they're sent to school so young they are already broken by the time they reach their teens. They lose their will to rebel. I know kids that freely and fully comit themselves to a life of slavery. Very sad.
Kids are curious by nature, the school system sucks out their soul after 12 years. On one hand their parents are authoritarian, and on the other hand the school reinforces obedience as well. I was always disobedient in school, and got punished many times.
