Propaganda in the 21st century is more common than in the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany. This is not an exaggeration, this is unfortunately a fact.

Propaganda is the art of Government, govern=control and ment(e)=mind, it is mind control. So called "Democracies" have really figured out that ruling by words, and lies is much more effective than ruling through force as in compared to an Absolute Monarchy. Thus force is only the backstop, and it's only used when else everything fails .

But to rule, you have to influence if not totally brainwash the minds of your subjects like a cult leader does to his followers, that you have the best intentions, and even though ruling is an ugly business, you have to distort reality and use euphemisms and bogus justification to justify your horrible deeds.

There are many books about it, tons of research, and even released official documents from the Nazis and Soviets that show exactly how it is done. I think people should study Bernays and authors like him to realize the ugly nature of it.

There are 3 institutions that are doing the dirty work:

Religion

Now of course religion is just too obvious, and it mostly works on the low IQ population. Look whether there is a God or not, that is a metaphysical philosophical question. But earthly religion is undeniably one of the most ruthless and cruel forms of controlling the masses. Christianity and Islam have all been used to do horrible things, and there were even Buddhist sects (despite their openly pacifist doctrines) that done horrible violence. So religion is not for the benefit of the masses, but rather to benefit those that control the churches. Now religion might teach people some morality, but nothing really that you can't get to using philosophy.

It is literally a cheap solution to force people to be moral, but it always falls apart as religious fanaticism always leads people to do more harm eventually than they did good.

Education

"Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted." - Lenin

It is a literal indoctrination system. Anyone who knows any basic things about psychology knows that repeated memorization of useless data doesn't really stick into people's heads, not to mention that it's useless data anyway. It's not like they teach you any sort of skills in school that you can use in your adult life to make money.

What the Schools "teach" you, or more accurately "program" you, is to be obedient. You have a fake 2nd parent authority the "teacher" that you have to obey like a God. You can't go out to the bathroom without asking for permission first, which sounds like sexual intimidation. I mean it is a very intimate thing to do stuff in the bathroom, especially for girls, but you can't do that without asking for permission. So the teacher even controls your most intimate parts, your genitalia.

It is psychological torture, and then you have the useless data that you must memorize, sounds like the 101 Room torture chamber that Winston Smith has to go through in 1984, you know "2+2= whatever I say it is". And I literally experienced this in school. There was an arrogant narcissist teacher I remember, that sometimes made mistakes, and if you corrected him, he would fail you, he almost literally said that "you should do what I say and don't question me", he didn't said it with these words but something similar. So it doesn't matter if it's true or not, you just have to obey.

But violence is not rare either. I have been beaten by the teachers as a kid for simply just being late for the class as if it were some kind of religious cult worship. There was another boy in my class that started arguing with the same teacher I described above, over some trivial stuff, and then he couldn't handle being "disrespected", went over there grabbed his neck and punched him in the face just for questioning him. If we had known better, this fucker would have went to jail, but of course we were afraid to talk about it so he got away with it. But the cops are in on it too, he would have probably just got like a 1 week paid leave anyway, it's not like the Government touches one of their own.

So it is D E M O R A L I Z A T I O N literally, you go in as a happy child full of energy and curiosity and love for the world, then you are going through a lengthy process of psychological intimidation, brainwashing; then you come out as a depressed obedient slave.

The Media

And after your indoctrination is complete, the propaganda machine (TV) will feed you lies nonstop for the rest of your life. This is of course the news reports that are very biased, Corporate influenced, and basically Government too. Then you have Pop Culture which really just distracts the masses with useless stuff mostly appealing to things like narcissism and greed.

And finally you have the movies and TV shows that are (currently) full of Pro-War and Pro-Police TV shows and movies. Wow how subtle?

I turn on the TV and I always see shows where the cop is always a hero but a little bit confused, like a normal guy you know with normal life issues, but he is sympathetic and has a good spirit. But then in reality I see news like these and wonder are we living in the same reality? Are we schitzophrenic? Or is the TV a complete propaganda machine designed to create a false reality for us and in the real real world things are much much more uglier.

Combining it

So there you have it 3 tools to control the masses and it works. People are distracted, living in a fake world, getting fake propagandized information and obeying authority, no matter how corrupt or evil it is.

You would think the cop shows are sorta based on reality... but they aren't.

There is that one CSI type show where the doctor is going over 8 cases over and over again to see if he can find a clue that he has overlooked. In reality, only 50% of murders are investigated. That means that 50% of the files, if there is even one, aren't even looked at.

Further, the police stop searching when they think they have a case. Not the answers, not the truth, just enough to put someone on trial. Like, the wife was murdered, it is usually the husband, there is evidence that he was at the scene. Book him. Case closed.

AND Govern-cement school is evil. Pure evil.

You've hit the nail on the spot my friend, this is 100% true.

There was a murder case here like 2-3 years ago, and they have no idea who did it, some poor homeless guy was the victim.

I bet they can't find the perpetrator in 80% of the cases, yet the TV show literally reinforces the belief that all bad guys will get punished and caught in the end (which is what you would want as a propagandist to deter crime [which may be effective but still immoral to lie])

However in reality I think barely anyone gets caught, unless it's like a stupid guy robbing a store that gets his face caught on a camera.

But what about the banksters and the other political criminals, do they get caught too? Notice in movies they never show any senator or PM as the bad guy, God forbid a bankster, they are not even mentioned. They even occasionally have a rogue politician like a mayor or something, or even a rogue stock broker like with Wallstreet and Wolf of Wallstreet movies, but never a bank. Wonder why?

Occasionally they do, especially in those older movies, but it's mostly some "lone wolf" or a gangster, but never a bank manager or a corporate elite. Almost like they are saints, which we know full well they aren't.

So it is my guess that in reality the police is inefficient (I mean all government programs are, just look at Cuban Socialist Hospitals) and they never go after the big guys.

But the propaganda is trying to tell us that they always catch the bad guy, and that the big guys are good.

Literally an inversion of reality, that is propaganda!

To compare Christianity and Islam is comparing black and white, they're not the same, look at the world today, Islam is known for terrorism all around the world especially Europe and the Middle East with ISIS, I don't see Christian terrorism because Jesus does not promote terrorism like Islam does. Islam teaches the enslavement of women as sex slaves and child trafficking while Christianity teaches equality for both genders, Islam teaches to kill nonbelievers, Jesus Christ does not teach that at all. This post is misguided, I agree that mainstream media and public education is doing the dirty work, and neither of those promote Christianity in general, look at hollywood they promote satanism and Islam not Christianity, Christians are actually the enemy of the mainstream media. Sure there's a few crazy Christians out there just like there's crazy people in any group, but I'm talking about the big picture here, Islam promotes violence, Christianity does not.

I don't see Christian terrorism because Jesus does not promote terrorism like Islam does.

Well then you are 500 years late I guess, there was a lot of terror going on in the middle ages where entire towns were literally burned down with people in it during the inquisition phase.

I agree that modern Christianity has reformed itself and it became more secular, but it is mainly because it has became secular is the case that it is more "peaceful" today. Plus most people are not that religious or do not place religion as a center role of society.

Islam didn't went through this "reformation" phase, so they are still doing barbarian things.

Christians are actually the enemy of the mainstream media

I like some of the things that Christianity teaches, I was raised in a semi-religious household too, but I wasn't really into religion.

In my opinion it's ultimately philosophy and reason that will bring people to englightenment not religion.

good, clear, simple analysis. Still, some will never be susceptible to brainwashing. Human are curious by nature. the question "who am I?" will remain a universal question so the search for improvement and breaking institutions will remain. Every generation comes with a new solution. and break rules as you can see with the crypto generation bringing forth the potential of a new order.

Everyone is susceptible to propaganda, but after enough time things don't add up, and the conflicts inside people's brains will sort themselves out and people will find the truth.

They say that truth always comes to the surface, but it may be later than sooner.

if one looks for truth, one cannot go along propaganda. even then we have to play the game. as going to school and learning whatever they feed us. doesn't mean that you believe in it. the pull is very strong to comply with the order in place. I think all propaganda is like the Ouroboros, the snake that eats its own tail. All propaganda will be replaced by another, it can't survive its own lies as it is not rooted in truth and is ephemeral by nature. Maybe it is later than sooner, but it is doomed... If only the masses knew their power it will be sooner.
