Cowardice or Stupidity?

The more I look into the culture of tyranny, the more I find that people are actually not that stupid as they are portrayed, but in fact are rather coward.

For example seeing all this tyranny around us:

  • Surveillance
  • Terrorism
  • Violent Police
  • Wars
  • Huge Taxes
  • Crackdowns on Liberty and Freedom

It is obvious for most people that the world is going crazy. People are not that stupid. People are stupid in general, but not that stupid to not notice how things are only getting worse and worse.

Sure you have the hedonists who are totally brainwashed, and their attention is taken away from important events. But even these people, once they get our of their delusions, even they will realize the world around them, as it is.

However, it's not that people are too stupid to realize this. It's that people are too coward to do anything about it:

  • On one hand you have the "I can't do anything about it, I'm powerless" mentality, which is a very good propaganda technique that goes hand in hand with the hedonist culture.
  • On the other hand, people are either ignorant about things, even if they know that things are wrong, they will ignore it. Or they are totally afraid to do anything about it.

Now you can deal with the "I'm powerless" mentality by abandoning collectivism and hedonism, and discovering that the individual has all the power over his life, and not the tyrant:

But how to deal with the cowardice? If humans weren't cowards, then we would not have this problem in the first place. There would be no tyranny, if at every single time a tyrant tried to gain power, there would be an equal and opposite reaction and resistance to it, to block him.

Unfortunately Newton's 3rd law doesn't apply to society, and people are rather submissive. This is unfortunately genetical, this is what humanity is. But hopefully over time it can be changed.

Let's take an example of ruthless tyranny:

A picture of the Kristallnacht, where Jews were being forced to march to concentration camps.

You can see the attitude of the crowd to this tyrannical act. Some of them supported it, but most of them didn't really care, and some of them were quite shocked by it. Given that Hitler's approval rating was at most 60% after the nationalistic "pride" in 1941 after the fall of France. We can sort of see how the crowd really reacted to these atrocities, well for the most part, they didn't care.

They know that something was wrong, obviously. Because the Gestapo slowly went for everybody, they started arresting students who spoke up, they arrested writers, teachers, priests, you name it.

So everyone started suffering under the Nazi occupation, not to mention food was scarce later in the war, so many had starved, even in previously luxurious German areas, even if they didn't cared at first, they quickly realized that Nazism wasn't the socialist utopia they dreamed of, but it was more like Hell on Earth. For those in the camps, it literally was.

I get that there are many anti-gun activists that don't want violence. But guns exist, that's a fact. And if you are not armed, that doesn't mean that people will just become nice to you, that only means that those that want to hurt you will occur no resistance in doing so.

The gun is a lethal weapon, but just because people are afraid of it, that doesn't mean that bad guys will be afraid of it too. The first thing Hitler did was to disarm the population, so that only the criminals could get guns, and his Nazi thugs, including the army that he invaded half of Europe with it.

Nor did the other populations had guns. Europe still didn't learned from this. And now Europe is facing yet another danger. Criminal thugs and terrorists attacking unarmed citizens, with their illegally obtained firearms.

Isn't that a dejavu? Stupid Europeans have given up on firearms, even after WW2 and the Holocaust, knowing fairly well that it was the tyrannical government that did the atrocities, and not the everyday citizen.

Every single WW2 movie you watch, you see ordinary people being bossed around by armed Nazi thugs, and it's only the resistance, or the partisans, who were armed, who were the only opposition to this.

And knowing fairly well that partisans and other armed groups have done great harm to the Nazi machine, imagine if everyone would have been armed. The Nazis would have lost in 1 week.

So Europeans are really idiots that can't comprehend that humans need to be armed to be able to defend themselves against tyranny and thugs.

Look at the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, as soon as Jews got their hands on some weapons, they showed the Nazis that they weren't the kind of people the they thought they were, and they quickly showed the Nazis that they won't put up with tyranny:

They fought heroically to the last man, and put up the hell of a resistance against extreme odds. That is how you deal with tyranny.

The ghetto uprising then inspired the Polish, and then later the entire city revolted against the Nazis.

This is how you deal with tyranny, this is how people should deal with vicious thugs, aggressors and powerhungry maniacs.

But Europe, once again, choose to run with their tail between their legs. All this hedonism has turned people into soft serfs that can be molded, just like the Nazis tried to mold Europe under their occupation.

What would it take for people to just say NO to tyranny?

hopefully the same mistakes won't be made that were made in the past..

I am not so sure about that, by some metrics the world is already crazier than in 1941.

Hitler didn't had massive surveillance apparatus, and biometric data gathering machinery.

Excellent article, yet the bureaucrats want to rule over hundreds of millions of people.

It's the most insane thing imaginable, that some middle age guy in an office can, and has the right to, control hundreds of millions of people.

it's insane isn't it?

Cowardice or survivalism? Those revolting Jewish people are worthy of admiration but their situation was very different from todays'

It's not just them, but throughout history people have said NO for far less things.

In the middle ages peasants revolted for a small 10% tax. Now we pay 70% taxes and nobody cares, they don't even realize that they are taxed, they think that the evil employee gives them small wage, therefore it's capitalisms fault. Not realizing that their wage would be 2x higher if not for those damn taxes.

There is a thing called Tax Freedom Day, which calculates that how much days in a year you are essentially a slave of the government. Half of the year means that you are working 6 months for no pay essentially as a slave for the government, and only the rest of your work you can keep.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_Freedom_Day

In Europe, Tax Freedoom Days are well past June.

In Ancient Rome, The Tax Freedom Day was middle of January. Taxes have shamelessly been rising ever since. Reaching a peak of 100% in Communism.
